“Revamp makes it an inviting place to go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

The opening evening was brilliant and a great indication of the clientel that were going to visit. Much better than previous. We revisited for a meal and it was great. The quality was excellant with a great list of non-alcoholic cocktails. The furnishings were very comfortable and the waiter was extremely polite and accommodating. If I could say anything negative, I found the portions small although well presented. So we did leave feeling as though we could eat it all over again, which for the money, isn't so good.

Stayed here over the August Bank Holiday weekend. All the staff I dealt with were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Check-in was easy, and we always found space in the car park. Room was large, very comfortable bed, nice amenities. For a room that size, the TV seemed a little small, but we didn't really use it. Good wi-fi connection. The bathroom was pretty small, and I found the grey tiles a bit drab and made it seem smaller, but that's personal taste. Shower was okay, not the most powerful, but hot. As other reviewers mention, at the front of the hotel, it's fairly noisy. Deliveries happened at 4am both nights, and there was a lot of other traffic noise in the very early hours. Not too bad if you are a heavy sleeper, but it was too hot to have the windows closed, so we had to put up with the noise, and we'd booked one of the better rooms. Breakfast was a fair selection of cereals, croissants etc., was enough that we didn't go for the additional cost of cooked items. Good location on the main street and easy to get to local attractions.

A group of us had dinner at The Angel & Blue Pig last night! They fitted us in even though they were busy, the food was really nice, but the service from the delightful Karin (from Sweden) made the evening!

We came to Lymington for a wedding and spent two nights at the Angel and the Blue Pig. Right on the high street, it is a charming and beautiful inn with a long history, including, apparently, some resident ghosts! Each room is named after an archangel and we had "Gabriel." Lovely ensuite room, with everything you need, comfortable, attractive, and unique. The continental breakfast had plenty of healthy choices, and there didn't seem any need for a cooked breakfast although the menu looked great. We ate lunch there and had absolutely wonderful mussels and fish cakes, knowing everything was fresh from the sea. I wish we had had time to sample more of their cooking as everything we had was delicious. Lymington is a lovely town with a nice selection of shops, easy walk to the quay to take ferry to the Isle of Wight and close to the ponies and natural beauty of the New Forest, among many other attractions. There was a great market all down the street on Saturday. We were very happy with the hotel. It was lovely, comfortable and we received friendly and helpful service. I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back, like ours, are probably quieter than the front, as we were not at all disturbed b...

Stayed for 1 night at the Angel and Blue Pig - very tasteful decor, nice bar/restaurant and friendly staff. We stayed in room 3 which was very spacious with lots of nice touches, however...at 5.45am the Saturday morning market traders starting setting up on the street immediately outside of our room and the single glazed windows did nothing to block out the noise - no need for an alarm call!. Real shame as everything else about the place is first class.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms at the front on Friday nights!

Lovely large comfortable individual rooms. Although on the High Street it was not noisy with all the windows open. Pleasant staff. Good off-street parking. Lovely pub with excellent choice of local beer & imported larger. Great restaurant with wonderful food - the best steak I have ever had in the UK - and a 20% discount off food for residents. Continental breakfast included with such a good choice that the English breakfast was unnecessary.
