“Very good food and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Had lunch here today, and I was very impressed. The food was delicious - we shared a taster plate, and everything on it got top marks.
Friendly staff, and a good range of local beers and cider.
We will definitely be coming back here.

“Reliable food with a pleasant atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Dined with a friend last Monday. It was quiet but the food and service are consistently good. I had the Pulled Beef and Bacon Pie with Chips. The Ship Inn is even better in the summer when you can sit on the decking by the river, but beware the seagulls!

“Dessert Envy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

We visited the Ship Inn twice while staying in nearby Lyndhurst. The food was delicious and the team welcoming and friendly.

The first night I picked the treacle tart with lemon curd - perfectly nice choice, tasty and delicious - BUT - my wife picked the 'Salted Caramel and Chocolate in a Pastry Pot' no words to describe the deliciousness packed into this dessert.

Hence the second visit.

Go eat at The Ship Inn, you won't be disappointed.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Food bland and poorly cooked, deep fried Brie overdone and smoked cod with lentils tasted like microwave meal. Wine nice though. Atmosphere is confusing, some might call the mixture of furniture eclectic but to me it was an untidy jumble, the whole feel of the place is that it is trying to be all things to all men and doesn't achieve an identity of its own, which is a shame as the location is great.

“Lovely place in the summer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

Whether you want to sit with a drink on the Quay watching the kids crabbing, or if you want a decent pub meal, The Ship Inn is very conveniently placed. Prices are reasonable and the food has always been good standard and varied menu. Service always friendly and attentive. I always drop in whenever I'm local.
