“Superb 2 Night Break”

We booked at the Grand again for their Xmas Party this time on the 13th Dec and it was by far one of the best Xmas parties you could have gone too ! Brilliant all round display of a hotel that takes pride in everything they do to make you feel special ! Top quality Food Again ! Top Entertainment in a Luxury surrounding and Their staff are to be applauded for commitment to give everyone a 5 star treatment !
Well Done The Grand Superb Hotel ! Derek And Bryan Superb Managers and always make you feel welcome and cant fault this place and looking forward to returning soon !

Room Tip: room 214 sea view with balcony and have Very big beds , great free choice of room refreshments too !

So I stayed at the Grand 22 which is a little bit of a walk from the main hotel. You still have to check in at the main hotel though. The hotel staff was very helpful and provided everything that I had asked for. You had to have a room key to access the facility which was nice. So it made the location feel very secure that not just anyone could walk up and enter the facility.

The room was very nice and very contemporary with a walk in shower and separate free standing tub. The bed is not what I would consider a true "king bed" as it was 2 twins pushed together to make a king. So that made sharing the bed kind of a pain as someone was always sleeping in the crack. A true king bed is one king mattress, not two twins on the same frame in my opinion.

I never used the pool or spa as it was over in the other building and walking over there and then changing into pool gear and then changing back into regular clothes for the cold walk back was not ideal. It looked nice as I went over there one time to workout in their "gym." The gym consisted of one multi-purpose machine and a leg press. Along with some other machine I've never seen before in the states. They also had a few treadmills and elliptical machines as well. Not bad for a hotel, but nothing to make you say wow.

The room was always clean and fresh towels were always provided when asked. So no complaints on the room being serviced.

So now onto my "complaints" if you will. Upon check in, the gentleman took me to my room and showed me the features of the room. The in room air conditioning was turned on and I had asked if it could be turned below 19 Celsius as that as the lowest it would go. He went to check and said it was unable to go any lower. No big deal for the first night as it worked just fine. Then all the sudden on the second night it switched back and forth from air conditioning to heat. Then the 3rd night it switched to "central" and I was unable to change any settings whatsoever on the control box. It got very hot in the room as the heat had been turned on and I had to open up a window to cool it down in the room. I let it go like that the rest of my stay and partially my fault for not calling to have it looked at. I just left the window open for the remainder of my stay to keep the place cool. Mind you it was only 5 or 6 outside during the day. I did call to have the in room fridge looked at though because it was not getting cold. I was told someone would be by to look at it. We had left for the day and when we came back it was still not getting cold. So we ended up leaving all of the stuff we wanted cold on the balcony rather than the fridge since it was cold outside.

Other than those few minor things, I would come back and enjoy the Grand 22 Suite again sometime.

Great to read that your overall experience was a positive one and that you like the design of our facilities and found our staff to be helpful during your stay.

I must say, it's the first time we have ever had a guests request the temperature to be set below 19 degrees in the middle of Winter, but it is extremely important to us that all guests are catered for. We have our maintenance team having a look at the programming of the air conditioning so that it can be a little cooler for our Canadian guests in the future.

Hope to be able to welcome you back to The Grand on your next visit to the UK.

We stayed here for one night with another couple. From the moment we entered the hotel we were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff. Infact every member of staff we had contact was the same.
The room was spacious, comfortable and warm; the toiletries provided were top quality and amenities in the room were excellent.
We didn't have dinner in the hotel but found the bar to be comfortable and not over priced.
Breakfast was really great with a fantastic array of good quality food on offer.
I hope I stay here again.

I was made to feel welcome from the minute my friend and I arrived. The room was extremely comfortable and the bathroom huge. Planning another visit very soon. Breakfast was cooked to order too. Excellent value.

Just returned from a Saturday night stay at the grand. We checked in online before arriving ( you receive an email a few days before asking you important info ie car reg no. Time of arrival etc) so this saved time when we arrived. We stayed in room 5 which is in the newer part of hotel (annex) the room was very nice. Dressing gowns,slipper, water,coke, crisp and biscuits.carpark view but you can see the sea. I read a lot about the coffee machine in everyone's review and couldn't understand why people were moaning about it. Well I hated it each time we tried making a coffee the small cups overflowed tried it on both settings it was a nightmare. ( please put kettles in rooms) bathroom was really nice big bath and separate shower cubicle lovely big bath towels. ( only half a toilet roll was in bathroom on arrival which we ended up using to mop up coffee ) swimming pool /spa was very nice ( large pool) we went down in our dressing gowns and got extra towels from spa reception. We decide to have a drink in reception /bar area before our evening meal but the area is very badly lit so didn't stay there long with our drinks , the dining room was very nice and the meal was lovely. Had a good night sleep. (No noise from the event that was on downstairs) breakfast was very nice plenty of choice, . Overall had a really nice night but would recommend a kettle to be put in rooms and better lighting in reception.

Room Tip: All rooms will be nice. But with different views From windows.

Fantastic to see that you made use of our Guest Portal and got yourselves checked in online prior to your arrival - certainly makes check-in very speedy and you can get straight on to relaxing!

I shall see that our Housekeeping department take a look at the coffee machine in the room you were accommodating as they have all be set to dispense just the right amount of water for the cups. It seems as though it may have been re-set so thank you for pointing this out to us.

I stay in many hotels throughout the UK.

This one of the best. Great welcome, nice bar area. We had upgraded rooms which were tremendous. Breakfast was top quality. Staff were very friendly and were helpful but not in an overbearing way.


In the bar they had a couple of unusual lagers on tap.

Trying to think of something negative to write but i honestly could not fault the hotel in any way.

Room Tip: Upgrade - room 302 was tremendous.

We had a very nice stay at the Grand once we had settled in, the staff were brilliant and extremely helpful particularly Tom and the people in the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and even decided to stay another night. The only thing we didn't like was the Blonde receptionist, she was very curt and unhelpful from the moment we arrived. Perhaps a long course on Customer Service for this person and then I would give you a 10.

It's always lovely to know that our guests have taken a liking to our newest addition to the hotel in Grand TwentyTwo.

I must admit, it is very out of character for any of our receptionists to be described as "unhelpful and curt" but we hope this does not deter you from returning.

Hopefully next time we can restore that last start and it will be a five out of five!
