“Family Weekend Away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

This must have been our families 10th annual trip to the Chadwick. Nice hotel, great/amazing location, friendly staff and great breakfast. The rooms aren't plush by today's standards but they are comfortable and varied in decor. They all have a colour TV and tea & coffee making facilities. The swimming pool and small spa are great to spend an hour in. The steam room & sauna are as hot as you'd expect and the pool is wet. You're never going to have a boozy lads or girls trip staying here, so for families it's perfect.
Would I go back? Definitely and probably will next October on the Chilvers annual pilgrimage.

Room Tip: All much of a muchness really. Sea view always helps though

We came to stannes for a weekend with a view to have a pleasant time.
This turned out to be a horror story from beginning to end. The rooms were filthy hovels and when we asked to be moved we got a like it or lump it attitude.
We had stayed here a number of years ago and it was ok but this time there was pubic hairs in the w c and numerous stains in and around the room.
The worse part was my 2 y o son found what i thought was an extasy tablet under the bed. When I reported this they made a joke about it and said I wouldn't be charged any more for it. Not my idea of funny.

Another GENUINE review that wont be recognised by any other traveller who has stayed at the Chadwick Hotel. I can certainly assure any guest that our rooms are cleaned to the highest standards. should that quality not be the case then a member of the management team will personally see that it is. As a responsible hotel run in professional manner we do have procedures in place and incident reports to complete, following detailed risk assessments, for the control of substances hazardous to health which includes items left, not disposed of responsibly whether it be medication, sharps or illegal substances as you suggest you found. Excstacy to be found at The Chadwick is highly unlikely, for a member of staff to treat such a matter in frivolous way would be a disciplinary matter, a long with no verbal reports or incident reports is incredulous.
As a responsible parent myself i would have demanded to speak to a senior manager and expected a copy of any written report at the very least. the potential implications should there be any more tablets or your child had consumed any prior to you noticing would induce in me a determination to ensure action had been taken immediately, evidence retained, if only for the protection of my child and others. Not to mention it in a travel review site some time later lower in priority than alledged pubic hairs in a wc. I had a recent stay in the said hotel and to be frank it was repulsive.
The staff are rude and abrupt and i even caught one of them having an alcoholic beverage before lunch. It was brought to my attention that she is the hotel proprietor so apparently she can.
Not in my eyes. Especially when you are responsible for guests safety.
The standard of the room was just about fit for somebody who grew up in the favela's of Sao paulo Brazil. There was a few crumbs when we got into bed so had the room even been cleaned prior to our stay? The toilet stains were a very unpleasant surprise as well. The hotel itself wasn't much better. The pool was a definite no go zone for us too.
The stay was supposed to be for 2 nights so i cut it short and was refused a refund as my complaint caused an argument and although i was very polite when making the complaint i was made to feel awkward and was verbally abused by the proprietor and sent packing.
Not my idea of nice weekend away.

Room Tip: Just don't. The other comments on this site to me are clearly false statements added by friends...

In reply to your questionable review contrary to our genuine guest comments both on Tripadvisor and other sites, i can assure you our staff have a well deserved reputation for being friendly and efficient and fastideous and thorough in their cleaning routines.
Being a family owned hotel for sixty five years, the proprietors do and should both sample and entertain at the hotel to check standards for themselves knowing their guests will be afforded the same high standard of hospitality and in the knowledge that the management team are keeping a close eye on the business on their behalf. We have an impecable record for health and safety, audited by two outside professional bodies.
Surprisingly, neither myself who would have been on duty or any of my staff can recall any guests reporting such a appalling experience or being verbally abused or sent packing.

Hotel needs a facelift but is comfortable.

Food is very good, plenty of choice and staff will do their best to accommodate your needs. Head waitress Barbara is great likewise the waitress from Thailand and the waiter from Italy. Stay clear of Sam total waste of space v much up his backside and more at home at the top of the Christmas as twinkle toes. Send him back to where he camefrom.

We stayed at the hotel for one night as part of family birthday celebrations. The last time I was here was 25 years ago as a child, and to be honest, I don't think it has changed since then!

The Chadwick has a brilliant position on the promenade and great views. The majority of the clientele are of the older generation, and the hotel was so hot it was almost tropical at times. The decor is quite dated but the rooms were very clean and comfortable, and they provide tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, a trouser press and a TV.

The dinner service runs for only an hour a half, from 7 p.m. until 8.30, and I couldn't work out why they had so many waiting staff until I realised that they were going to stick as rigidly as they could to those times, so needed an army of people to achieve that. We went in to eat at 8.10, and bearing mind that it is a four course evening meal, we were finished by 9.05!! They literally keep it coming, so if you're looking for a relaxing eating experience, this isn't for you. My sister popped to the Ladies between courses, only to find that in her three minute absence the main course had been served! Having said that, Helen our waitress was funny and and attentive, and the food was very good. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of choice.

There are lots of comfy sofas dotted about, and the Bugatti Bar was a lot of fun in the evening. There is also a swimming pool and a playroom for children. They do have internet and computer access, but they are seriously expensive at between £5 and £7 per hour.

If you have any walking difficulties, please be sure to book a room on the ground floor, as the lifts are the smallest I have ever seen, so I'm not convinced you would be able to get a wheelchair in there.

Our visit was a real blast from the past in a traditional seaside hotel, and we had a great time.

I am glad the family celebration weekend was enjoyed by all, although a little marred by the overly efficient staff during dinner in the table dote restaurant. It can be difficult to judge how quickly or leisurely guests want to dine and we would always repond to a request for a few minutes break between courses or hold the food if someone has to temporarily leave for any reason. Hopefully we can improve on your experience on the families next visit.

Stayed here over the weekend of the 22nd of sept due to a family birthday we checked in in the afternoon and had to park in. Disabled space as there were no others available so didn't really fancy parking down the street lugging things plus a four year old? Anyway we let reception know and they were fine .. Room was spacious but defiantly needs a refurb I mean we prefer modern but it needs painting up and stuff we used the pool in the hotel also as we wanted to take our boy. I was disappointed that the jacuzzi wasn't working ? Had a Turkish bath though which was ok ,the pool was ok to . We had a meal in the hotel to later which was nice nothing really to complain about and there was a few b,day touches on the table for my mum what was nice . The entertainment in the hotel was ok we were going to see the b,pool lights but our boy fell asleep so had to stay and try and laugh at the guy ,but it's no wonder my boy fell asleep I nearly was to?. Breakfast was good in the morning to .noh and there was a bit of a play area for the kids e.g a ball pool and pool table e.t.c which was located near the restaurant .. All in all a pleasant enough stay just needs a touch up and a refurb.

Kids always love the pool and childrens play areas, sorry we had a temporary problem with the jacuzzi, all was back working as soon as we could get an engineer. Thanks for the time taken to give a review, all feedback is greatly received.

Spent a couple of nights here with parents and our 5 year old. Did the Beatles themed weekend. Good stay. Nice location on prom and within walking distance of pier etc. Food was good. Rooms are clean if a little dated. Staff friendly. Nice warm pool to relax in. It is a hotel geared more to the mature clientele, but we had a nice time and Lytham is a pleasant seaside town.

Room Tip: Request a sea view room.
