“Good value but rather basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

I was uncertain whether to stay at this hotel after reading some of the less than favourable reviews, but it suited my requirements in terms of the price and location. At £35 per night it was good value. The room was clean and warm and the bed comfortable. However the overall appearance of the room and hotel is rather dated and worn and you do get some traffic noise if you have a room at the front. Overall its perfectly fine for a budget overnight stay and very convenient if you'e travelling down the M1.

Booked for three nights, Fri to Mon. Me and Wife. Due to long journey decided to stay in for evening meal. Menu looked good but no one around to order but eventually located Barman. I asked questions re menu and out came the "Chef" who went some way to assure me of quality etc. Sat at Bar table and Chef brought 2 knives and 2 forks on a plate. Eventually food turned up, Fish and Chips for me and Sausage and Mash for Wife. Asked for serviettes and tartare sauce and tomato ketchup. Sauces arrived but Chef could not find serviettes so gave us a couple of sheets of a kitchen roll. The Fish and Chips were average but the sausage and mash left a lot to be desired. Sausages were more kin to chipolatas unlike the breakfast sausages the next morning. The mash was reconstituted from Smash or some other similar catering stuff and had some dry unmixed ingredient that made my wife heave and rendered her unable to finish her meal.
To serve this Indigo ,so called restaurant, the "chef" was the only person on duty and told us he was a locum just brought in for the evening as no one else was available. What a disaster!
Other than this the bedroom was the usual bare and basic one always finds. We left the hotel the following morning curtailing our visit by two days.

You can access this from the motorway services
And leave to local roads ... Can't say if this is always the case .
Staff efficient and friendly.
Wifi not really viable to rely on.
BUT WATCH WHAT YOU PAY . My colleague got a £20per night cheaper deal on another website. Don't pay over £34 per night (2013)

Everything was broken (e.g. door handle, toilet flush, shower), water was dropping from my ceiling!!! Comment from the reception about this: "yea, well". You can hear every noise from the floor. It is at the highway. For dinner we waited 45 min and got the wrong things then and food was much too long in the oven. Breakfast was horrible. The cups were dirty. I would never ever return to that place again! It is not a budget hotel, this place should be closed and completely rebuilt.

It is advertised as Days Inn Milton Keynes but is at Newport Pagnal sevices so well away from Milton Keynes center. Clean hotel with basic well sized room. Unfortunately every time a bedroom door closed the room shook, This was due to the locks on the doors having to have the key turned in them for a smooth close. I thought I was on the set of crossroads. I was using the hotel for an early start in the morning so I suffered from a lack of sleep. The guest services directory says that to contact reception dial “0” on the phone, but there is not one. The water was only warm, personally I like a hot shower. Overall this is not to the usual Days Inn standard. Although it is a fair distance from the motorway you can hear it in the room. The price was at the top end of the chains normal prices so I did expect better.

I must admit worrying when I first drove up to the hotel because it looked a bit like an old motel you see in the films. However, the interior (the bit that really matters) is completely different. Friendly staff and well decorated. Rooms are very comfortable, modern and spacious. I slept well. This is a good location for the M1 and surrounding area. You can also make use of the service station if you don't want to pay for breakfast or need late night supplies. Very good value for money, and recommended.

Room Tip: If you're arriving with children who are asleep, get a room with a door onto the car park. That...

We were going to a party 20 miles from home and it was cheaper to stay here than get taxi's. When we pulled up it did look like the Bate's motel but inside it is quiet, clean, comfortable and the staff pleasant. Our room looked out over lovely countryside.

Room Tip: We were in Room 1, nice outlook over countryside
