“Burns night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Although we have had lunch here before, we had never stayed, so decided to enjoy the Burns Night dinner and stay the night. It was absolutely lovely, the food was brilliant and the room with its large oak beams and slightly sloping floor a delight. The breakfast was fantastic, and for £8.00 for non residents, I don't know why the good people of Ross aren't queuing up outside!I couldn't finish mine, so there was no room for the generous toast and marmalade after, maybe next time!

We didn't stay in the hotel as we'd already booked somewhere else, but on the first night of 3 decided to eat here. The food was so amazing and the staff incredibly friendly and polite that we went back for the next 2 nights!! We were shown round several of the rooms which have all been recently refurbished to a pretty good standard. If we come back to Ross on Wye again, we will definitely be staying here.

Nice oldy woldy hotel in heart of Ross on Wye. Lovely big room with all you would need. Very quiet other than creaky floorboards due to the hotels age.
Disappointed with menu as clearly states on web site about specials, asked while there but told they dont do specials.

Room Tip: we were in room 16 at back, no outside noise.

Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the King's Head. Unfortunately, our website did have an error, which we hadn't spotted in reference to daily specials. We are sorry and do apologise for the inaccuracy.
This has now been amended to represent accurately the food offering we provide. Our restaurant has an a la carte menu, using local produce, which changes every four weeks or so with the seasons. We believe by offering around twelve starters and twelve main courses, the menu is large enough for variety whilst compact enough to main quality and freshness. We do still have specials on occasions but not on a regular basis.
Thank you again

We loved our stay at the Kings Head. The family room was the best we've ever stayed in - the kids were delighted with their own room (and own TV!) and the whole room was beautifully refurbished.

We ate in the hotel restaurant - the food was great - and picked out books from the bookcase to read at night. The breakfast was wonderful. The most enormous range of cooked breakfasts, from the traditional full English to eggs several ways to porridge.

And finally, the staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. One oddity was that you can't drink the hotel tap water, but they were very happy to get us free bottled water.

Stayed at hotel for one night stay B&B 23/11/12. Atmosphere relaxed and friendly. Chose superior room which was a lovely room overlooking the High Street. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in.

Paid for evening meal in the restaurant, the food was outstanding. They have an excellent chef and all produce is locally sourced.

Breakfast - what can I say but amazing. The choice, the portions, the quality.

Staff - all extremely friendly and helpful.

Hotel has own car park, so you do not have to drive round looking for car parking space

Will defintely return again.

The fact that me and my girlfriend were going to stay in The Kings Head Hotel was more of a last minute thing, and as such we had no time to read up about it. In our mind we were expecting the most basic room but in actual fact it was very lovely and cosey (even if the door knob did fall off!). The bed (2 singles joined together) meant it was enormous and extremely comfortable. Television, internet access and hot drink facilities were also a nice treat. Breakfast was lovely and the service was quick (I think because we were the only ones eating).

There were little things that did bother me but not enough to moan about, for example I was unable to lock the bathroom door or when the door knob fell off as I was leaving. It was a lovely hotel which was surprisngly big - can't belive a place like that can even fit in Ross. My girlfriend did not want to leave and as such we will be returning.

Room Tip: Room 11 has it's own corridor leading up to it meaning no pesky people walking past your door!

Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. and the comfort of your king size bed. I have asked our maintenance team to check on your room's door knob and bathroom lock.
We do recommend guests who have any minor issues with their room to tell us as soon as possible so we can have them remedied. We really do want every guest to enjoy their time with us.
Thank you again
