“Hit and miss”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Have eaten a few times and although the location is good the the service is slow. Dont go for the steaks. 3 out of four have been really tough and of a poor standard. This is a known theam of this resterant. I think they really need to change this. Also on a sunday they had run out of beef ! ? It took nearly 45 mins for our meal to arrive which is far to long for what came. people who had the chicken were ok but everone who had steak were disappointed. Only good point was that a steak was taken off the bill but this is not the point. And its not a one off as I said before talking to people. its renound for hit and miss with food and service.

“Popular place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in the lovely town of Ross on Wye many times and always eat at least once in the Travellers Rest during the stay and more often than not stay at the adjoining Premier Inn (although avoid in hot weather as no air con and very uncomfortable!) beefeaters are pretty much standard anywhere so you know the menu. Staff at Ross very friendly and efficient, clean place and very popular! The whole area is and the Premier Inn must be one of the most popular ones around, never seen a £29 deal here. Avoid the restaurant on a Sunday afternoon.....it is he'll!

“Disappointing Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Very disappointed with what should have been a good experience. We were staying at the Premier Inn next door to this inn and it made sense to eat here. Service was poor , we were eventually noticed and given a table. The restaurant was very dimly lit making it hard to read the menu.
The choice was very limited. There was only 2 choices of vegetarian meals. Hoping that a member of staff could help and suggest an alternative , we gave up and left after nobody arrived take an order.

“Poor Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

This is a useful place for us to stop on our journeys between South Wales and the Midlands, but I was very disappointed this time. The service was far too slow 3 times; drink, main course, sweet.
The chips had no "body" - straight out of the frozen chips bag I'd guess and the fish was not appetising.
