I chose Wilton Court because of the great reviews and I am so glad I did. Perfect location on the river with views across to Ross. Great, comfortable room and bed (room 3) with dual aspect views. Outstanding service from all the staff - knew our names, very friendly and genuinely warm. Go on, try it. You know you want to...

We stayed for three nights at Wilton Court having read the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Service here is first class and far better than the majority of hotels we have stayed in. The breakfast waitress was fantastic and her attention to detail the best I have seen anywhere. The food was absolutely delicious and we are pretty fussy about good food and nothing was too much trouble when we ordered simpler food from the menu for my 12 year old. We will definitely return.

Lovely old Hotel, very clean and good location overlooking river. Staff extremely helpful and accommodating, nothing too much trouble.
Meals well executed by the chef, I particularly liked the guinea- fowl with summer vegetables in a buttery sauce.
Only downside, and this is a tad nit picky, was that the pillows were a bit lumpy.

We have stayed at Wilton court on many occasiona and the experiance just gets better each time. The location of the hotel next to the river Wye is superb, we have watched Kingfishers feeding from the river bank from our bedroom on many ocasions. The bedrooms are exellent and full of character. The owners Helen and Rodger are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble to ensure our thet our stay is always a fantastic experiance. Now for the best kept secret, the food!!, its simply some of the finest food i have ever had, superbly presented and cooked, and using an abundance of local produce. Wilton court hotel is without doubt a hidden gem, but not for too much longer i feel.

My wife, 2 young children and I have found our own private Oasis less than 2 hours drive from our Surrey home. It is The Wilton Court Hotel. The warm welcome of the team (who we all know on a first name basis) is relaxed yet attentive. You have time and space and no request (however unreasonable) are ever difficult. I personally love the atrium breakfast with the most amazing Mulberry tree supplying fruit for my muesli. Marianne loves her quiet afternoon tea when the kids and I take Ripley (they also welcome well mannered 4 legged guests!) for a stroll along the hotels river side paths. Nathalie and Sebastian love the movies that they can select from the in house movie cabinet. Just a real, great experience. Locals use the hotel as a meeting place where you are invited into conversation. I probably need another paragraph to list the menu favourites of Chef Michael. All locally sourced ingredients. Real honest food.. The filet I had with red wine sauce was like heaven. I will be back at the Wilton Court in august; just before the kids return back to school. The Mulberry tree should be in full production at that time.
Congrats to Helen and Roger (Jason , Michael & the rest of the crew) for all the awards they seem to get every year. No surprise to us! Keep up the great work. Cheers, Bill McCarrick

The Wilton Court Hotel is a quintessential English country house, with 16th century origins, set on the banks of the River Wye. We’ve stayed there 7 or 8 times over the past 6 years because it’s in a great location, has excellent food, a professional and unobtrusive staff and above all – it’s comfortable. The hosts, Helen and Roger are extremely welcoming and the manager Jason is absolutely superb.

In the winter you can have award winning meals served in the cosy old wood panelled bar with its roaring log fire. In summer, meals are served in the newer restaurant and conservatory overlooking an interesting garden teaming with blackbirds, robins, sparrows and many others. All meals come complete with vegetables, but for those of you who like to occasionally over-indulge, the hand cut chips are to die for. The wine list is reasonably extensive and more importantly – reasonably priced. Discreet background music includes Julio Iglesias and one or all of The Three Tenors, which lends itself to a type of clientele who, if they owned a mobile phone, generally wouldn’t dream of using it during dinner.

We’ve stayed in 5 of the hotel’s 10 bedrooms which either overlook the garden or the river, the latter being packed with yet more of our feathered friends, invariably bigger than those in the garden –you might guess that neither of us are ornithologists, but if you are, this is a great place for getting closer to the beaky things. All the bedrooms we’ve stayed in have comfortable ‘sink into’ beds and an eclectic assortment of furniture that epitomises the cosy feel of the hotel. The 2 bedrooms on the top floor feature massive lumps of oak and one even has a wattle and daub feature panel (without the daub) located in its slightly too narrow bathroom. The bathrooms to the other rooms are more conventional in layout and all of them are clean and functional.

Apart from being ideally situated for exploring Ross on Wye, the Wye Valley and The Forest of Dean, the hotel is well placed for an easy drive into Monmouth, Ledbury or Hereford.

We love the hotel and will continue to use it for years to come.

This is a hotel on our doorstep, we're fussy people that appreciate attention to detail, good service and above all very good food and I mean very good food! You will not be disappointed.

The hotel is next to the river, there is a wonderful riverside walk if you go over Wilton Bridge and turn right down some steps, at this time of the year (June) the Swans and Canada Geese are about, it's very relaxing.

The food......... well ........... We expect very good food at the Wilton and we know its a bit of a hidden gem, a drink in the bar while perusing the menu is always interrupted by the arrival of petit fours, delightful.... perhaps I should also tell you the menu gives credit to all the local producers it uses so you start to look at the menu in a different light.... its all about the attention to detail.

I could go on but in short the hosts Roger and Helen make you feel welcome in every way, they and their staff are passionate about making you feel relaxed, its a fantastic way to spend a lunch, a evening and if we ever move far enough away a weekend!

Do:--

Go for a riverside walk
Try the fresh bread and butter! (its local butter...! )
The Cheese Board........ and homemade piccalilli....
