“First class stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

My wife and I had a 2 night stay through Tesco Clubcard. We had a superior room overlooking the front, clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant both nights early bird -very good food and value. Staff were efficient and friendly. We could not fault it. Happy to recommend and return.

Room Tip: Opt for a superior room

Nice hotel and very easy for walking into Ross town centre but not easy with children. Travel cots £20 each, no lifts for the pram etc. We were left very disappointed after our stay which had cost £125 for one night (not including travel cot as we took our own).

As a party of 4 we had lunch, one of our guest had very stringent dietary requirements. The chef had prepared a special menu for this guest which was excellent. Service was very good, food good if fairly traditional. Would definitely go again

We didn't stay as guests in the hotel - only attended a party there, but the food was excellent, first rate service and beautiful hotel and gardens. Very friendly staff that bend over backwards to oblige.

i loved this hotel, The staff were all incredibly helpful i seemed very happy in their work. On reception the folks are welcoming and chatty and a delight to deal with on email . Its a good looking hotel and has elegant features . Our room was nice clean and with the usual bits and bobs. The food is good both the evening meal and breakfast. It is reasonably priced and the menu was varied. I would stay again certainly

Booked at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised. The entrance hall is impressive, leading to a sitting room/bar and a separate dining room but the bedroom was on the small side. However, it was clean and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. We didn't dine at the hotel, choosing instead to walk the very short distance in the charming town centre, but did have a lovely breakfast. The staff at breakfast were disorganised (no tables ready, not enough juices available for the number of guests, had to ask for tea/coffee several times before it was bought, toast forgotten about.....) but glad to help when asked. Overall, a nice building in a lovely setting in close proximity to a charming town.

We first stayed here on our wedding night, 42 years ago. The recent Saga 2-night offer gave us an opportunity to return and see how the hotel had changed over the years. It has certainly been developed, with an extension and complete re-organisation of the rooms. After booking I asked to be put in the same room we had 42 years ago and while the receptionists managed to give us a similar view (room 17) our original room no longer exists. The hotel looks good as you approach it and the grounds are maintained immaculately. Inside the reception hall was still impressive, with the original creaking staircase, and the rooms we saw were fine. We had arranged to eat at the hotel on the first night as part of the deal, and planned to go elsewhere for the second night, but having tasted and eaten a superb meal on night one we quickly decided to do so again on our second night and were not disappointed. The standard of cooking is excellent for a small country hotel. Breakfast on both mornings was plentiful and well cooked and the service throughout was both friendly and "there when we wanted it". One of the waitresses went out of her way to find and recommend somewhere for us to go on our full day out which proved ideal for our needs. All in all this was a lovely break and we would not hesitate to stay there again should we be in the area.

Room Tip: Room 17 is on the corner of the new (20 + year-old) extension but being a corner room gives a dual a...
