“Good food in a good Pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Ten of us (four adults and six kids) had Sunday lunch here and it was very good. Bit of a gamble as the pub was quiet, but that may have been due to the terrible weather. Service was a little slow but not unacceptable (we were a big group) and the staff were friendly. Everyone in our group had a good Sunday roast, even the kids (who always complain about something on their plate). Overall we found it an excellent place to enjoy a drink and a meal while escaping Dartmoor's 'Interesting' weather.

“A must to visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

I went to this pub with my family, my Boyfriend had the steak which he loved, he said it was well cooked to his liking and the best he had ever had. I had the fish pie which could not have been cooked any better! The service we was given was great, this is a lovely pub, friendly and well looked after. I would recommend anyone visiting Devon this is a must to try out!

“Delightful, warm, friendly and relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012 via mobile

Enjoyed my 2 visits very much. Was on holiday and staying just a few miles away. My husband and I decided to book in for dinner and the food was delicious and the whole atmosphere just warm and friendly. We decided to have dinner there again before we went home.

“Terrible Sunday lunch”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This pub has re-opened in the village - which is a fairly unusual occurence. It was soo good to have pub in walking distance in the village. It started off well, but recently we went for Sunday lunch and it was terrible. We all had roast lamb and it looked like it was a factory produced slices reformed joint - and it was also tasteless. The vegetables were so UN-cooked that it was ridiculous and they were chewy -microwaved?? When we commented on the vegetables the waitress giggled and said that someone else had comlained about them recently. DUH!!
We did not stop for a pudding and on returning home cancelled another reservation that we had made for Christmas.
Pubs like this cannot afford an off day. We're voting with our feet back to the pub that is not in a convenient walking distance, but can be relied on for consistantly good food - Peter Tavy Inn
