“Great fun for the kids and lovely gardens too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

We have been to Walton Gardens for many years now both for events like their food festivals or simply somewhere to take the kids in the summer holidays. My wife's cousin's husband John was the vicar here for some years so we have also been to the gardens when visiting. As well as having a lovely walk through water garden area, animal area, and walks through the park Walton Gardens have a very good play area for children and there is always an icecream vendor on hand to help the day go smoothly for the kids (and us adults too come to that!). The one fault that we find is that when there is an event on at Walton Gardens there are often very long queues to get into the car park because of it's popularity. This is caused by traffic coming either way from Manchester or from Liverpool on the main road to Walton and traffic lights which never seem to filter long enough to alow traffic to clear upto the car park entrance and therefore you get cars coming in when their red traffic lighta are on in the middle of the road blocking entrance for those on who have a green light coming from the opposite direction and this becomes a nightmare. Still if you can put up with this without losing your patience it is very worth a visit on those event days. I just wish they would do something better like two seperate entrances from either direction for example leading to two seperate car parks - it isn't rocket science and it would work perfectly without taking too much of an area off the park itself ! Once inside itself they have a cafe in the hall (though we found it quite expensive!)

Loads for children to do. Animal petting zoo, playground, mini golf, cafe, bowling green. There is loads of space for picnics and running around.

“Great for little ones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

A good park to take a little one for a few hours. Large and clean play area with seperate area for bigger children, good little childrens zoo which is free to enter and plenty of wide open space for running around.

Downside is no free parking and can imagine that the parking there is will go quickly when events are on.

“Wide open spaces and a relaxing place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We have been to Walton Hall gardens a few times and always seem to take people who have never visited the area to the Gardens. It is big enough so even if its busy you don't feel crowded. It would have got full marks but parking can be a bit of an issue.
