“New Year's Eve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Just returned after a 2 night stay. Couldn't fault the place. We arrived 2 hours earlier than check in and were given a room immediately. The bed wasnt made up for my daughter but within minutes this was sorted.
We attended the one direction tribute night in the marquee which was fabulous. My daughter's dietary needs were catered for and staff came to inform me what she could and couldn't eat.
The breakfast was also great.
Pool was fab.
Room could do with a little more lighting and I kept falling over the curved part at the bottom of the bed!
I will defiantly be back.

We stayed for 2 nights in December for a wedding. Although not a place that I would normally choose it was a pleasant surprise. Very friendly and helpful staff. Dog friendly. With good and efficient breakfast service, very good value for money.
The bed was very comfortable and lovely bed linen.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 15 years, normally between Christmas and New Year for a relaxing leisure and shopping break. We keep going back because we love the leisure facilities and all the Sky sports in the bar and the bedrooms.

This year we felt the standards had dropped. On previous years I remember watching football in front of a blazing fire in the bar, this year the bar was very cold and guests were even eating their meals with their coats on, me included. The once roaring fire is just gathering dust because none of the staff know how to turn it on.

There is a very complicated voucher system that they give you when you check in, I say complicated because we did not understand what you could get with them, that includes staff in the main bar, reception and the main restaurant. Every time we offered them a voucher they would have to go and ask the manager "if it was allowed". We stayed dinner bed and breakfast and the bar staff and restaurant staff had to ask the manager which menu we were allowed.
In the main restaurant we were given a large comprehensive menu whilst the waitress went to ask her manager what we were allowed, she returned with a much smaller very limited menu and took the large menu away, She said "you are only allowed to select from this menu".
The menu was limited and if you ordered a main course such as chicken, you would have to pay for chips as a side order at an extra £3.25 (unreal) Similar to having beans on toast included in your package where you get the beans but have to pay for the toast?
Felt like we were begging at times! We were a party of nine in total and we all felt the same way. Some of us even had different voucher books with different offers, some had no voucher book at all.

There was another red card system whereby you can get your beer a bit cheaper if you register , the only details they need for the red card is your name, phone number, email address and postcode. The beer is quite expensive anyway, but you expect that in this type of hotel, but there is obviously some scheme to bombard you with spam email marketing junk in return for a few pence off a pint. My advice would be putting bogus email address and phone numbers.

The rooms have taken a bit of a beating over the years and starting to look a bit tired.

Overall things have changed here and not for the better, some strange marketing strategy with confusing menus, vouchers, deals and staff in jeans, we don't like it.

Don't think we will be going back.

Would be nice to get a response from the General Manager or Area Manager, I don't see many from the previous posts, do you read them? I'm sure you must, these are all good pointers to improve your customer service, could make us give it another try?

The rooms are filthy. The service is poor and the wait time for food/service was ridiculous. Some staff were raally nice but some were really rude!! The price I paid at Starbucks was different the two times I had the same thing - no surprise when it was exactly £5 (rather than £4.50) was the time I never got a receipt either! The rooms weren't cheap (£85 per night) and if I'd visited prior would of definitely chosen to stay at the premier inn over the road. There was no reception area - just a Starbucks and 1 sofa and a couple of chairs up a really freezing corridor off the reception that lead to the conference rooms. There was also a bar area but not the relaxed atmosphere you normally get in hotels, quite a busy bar. Handy for Warrington centre - a 5/10 min walk to main shopping.

We booked the village hotel to mind my granddaughters while my daughter attended a wedding in the hotel.we booked a table for four for our evening meal and asked for a high chair ,we were given the chair and the remains of what ever had been eaten in it previously,we asked for it to be changed which it was without any fuss we then proceeded to order our meals and drinks which took an eternity to arrive,my wife ordering a glass of wine to go with her main course was brought after she had finished.all through the courses we had a very polite waitress apologising for the delay and it would arrive shortly, the next morning on packing to leave I dropped coins on the floor on retrieving these I pulled the bed away from the wall to find enough dust to suggest it had not seen a Hoover for some time,on arriving in the restaurant for breakfast the first words from my daughter without promting she had also pulled back the bed to retrieve toys to find broken glass.I informed reception on the lack of cleanliness in our room and that I would not have stayed there if I had seen under the bed and on further inspection the top of the cupboard and headboard,to which he replied that he was sorry and he would have a word with housekeeping.should it not be company policy to apologise and then discuss an appropriate refund on what was not a very good experience.

We stayed here between Chad and new year. Our booking included parking, breakfast and use of the spa facilities, all for £59.

The room was great and modern looking with a comfy bed and some of the best pillows I've had in hotels for ages.

We used the pool and spa on arrival on the Saturday as well as the Sunday morning before leaving.

The staff were all friendly and attentive. We were allowed to check in at 11am in stead of 2pm without charge.

We hope to be back to a De vere hotel soon.
