“Dark and small rooms very cramped”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Pros
Lots of parking spaces
Within walking distance to the town centre
Excellent health and fitness area
Good value for money as package included dinner and breakfast,
Dinner was of good order and quality
Had sky package

Cons
Rooms very dark, small and stuffy, on checking in really expected a high quality modern room, exactly the opposite.
Long queue for breakfast 25 minute wait
In Victory bar ordered simple bar snack, not arrived within an hour so asked for refund, very disappointing so headed into the town centre for food.

The hotel was average. We stayed for a party night and found it over priced for the quality of food.
We experienced bad snow and my heavily pregnant friend almost crashed her car and had to return home. I spoke to various staff on the night who had no clue who I needed to speak to. Eventually after speaking to about 6 different people they said they would get my number to the manager and they would contact me! But they didn't!! I had to phone up myself and no refund was given. None of my party will be returning as we were very disappointed!!

Arrived on Wednesday and upgraded to a Top Deck room. Super bed, nice and clean with excellent FOC coffee/tea etc. Gym was a bit crowded, swimming pool very clean, I agree with other comments about standard of food, but what do you expect for a £4.95 breakfast. If you dont want expensive coffee, stay away from Starbucks. If you are a village member, you get 20% discount off all food/drink anyway.

Room Tip: Top tip upgrade to Top Deck rooms!

I stayed at the Village as I fancied using my Spa voucher to have a few treatments. I was amazed to see a night's B & B in a double room for just £32 so I decided to stay over and chill out. The reception area has trendy low lighting so it was just as well that I had my reading glasses handy! Check in was efficient and friendly although I was surprised that I wasn't offered the opportunity to have a credit card swipe to charge things to my room (I was told this wasn't offered at weekends, it was pay-as-you-go).
My room was bright and clearly newly decorated and immaculately clean. No view but then you don't go to a hotel in Warrington for the view!!
The bathroom is bright and modern with the best shower I've ever seen. No fancy toiletries so take your own.
I found the room nice and cool which is unusual for many hotels. It was reasonably quiet too with minimal noise from the music downstairs.
My only complaint about this hotel was the food. I ate in the restaurant in the evening and the ribs (huge portion) were very gristly and chewy. In the morning the breakfast looked great but was barely lukewarm. I did report this to the waitress and she got somebody to check the food. They seemed to be removing it all as I left so maybe somebody forgot to turn the hotplates on! Oh and a tip for the restaurant staff; don't humiliate solo travellers by asking in a loud voice in front of other guests "is it just you madam?"
Overall though very good value for money.

Verve restaurant - service was absolutely awful, food very average more pub grub than restaurant. Breakfast OK, starbucks adds a bit to the experience, SPA was lovely and saved the weekend by making at least part of it enjoyable

What a disappointment. Is this the poor man’s De Vere at Harrod’s prices?

After being fleeced for a couple of coffees which you might need a mortgage to pay for, then we checked in. Our room was dreary to say the least. It was dark (at least one light didn’t work) and it over looked a flat roof full of plant (air handling units, chillers etc). The wooden blinds were good though.

We paid some ludicrous amount for a couple of drinks in the bar.

When we went down for breakfast, we had to wait 30 mins to get a table then queue up for food, what a joke.

I can only think that this hotel is aimed at either corporate or people who can claim on expenses.

Room Tip: Ask to be at the front, not over looking the plant at the rear

Good welcome at the hotel.Big car park.Good leisure facilities but not the best.breakfast was good but the choice like veg sausages & hash browns were missing.Choice could have been better.Good housekeeping.Bar & Restaurant are good.Had a couple of drinks at the bar.The staff are friendly.
As a whole good place to stay but be wary its bit expensive.
