I rarely write letters of complaint but felt the need to write to the general manager after my stay here. Disappointingly I failed to get a response, I therefore would like to warn members of my experience. Here is a copy of the letter I wrote.
"Dear Mr. Walmsley
I am regular business visitor to the Village Hotel, Warrington. I arrived at the hotel on Monday, 10th December and checked in to Room 210 for four nights. On entering to the room, I realised that the bed mattress offered no support and was past its lifespan. This is an issue I encounter on a regular basis with the beds at your hotel, and always bring it to the attention of the reception staff who are happy to allocate a different room. In this instance, I removed the bedsheet to inspect the mattress and was shocked and disgusted at the condition of both the mattress and mattress protector. Attached are photographs of both items. I am very disappointed that your hotel chooses to use mattresses and protectors in this state. Would you sleep in this bed?
Putting the above incident behind me, I was relocated to Room 109. This room offered the comfort one would expect from a £100+ per night hotel room. Unfortunately, on Thursday night, a party commenced below the room playing loud music from approx 10pm. I was advised by the duty manager that this would continue until 1am. As a business traveler required to attend a meeting early the next morning, the room was totally unacceptable. I was advised that the hotel was full and another room was not available. Clearly there are rooms in the hotel that are unsuitable for guests with early morning starts and guests should be advised likewise when booking. On this occasion, I was left with no option but to check out of the hotel and cut my stay short, which I find wholly unacceptable.
These issues need to be addressed by yourself if my company are to continue using the hotel for both myself and colleagues.
I look forward to hearing your comments on the issues raised above and actions which will be taken to address them. "
