Stayed one night - we had booked a family room for 2 adults to have a bit more room. The rooms could do with a decorating refresh - currently colours are too dark. The bed was very hard and the pillows too soft. The jarm around the door was split - looked like the door had been kicked in at some point. I'm not sure what market they are aiming for but soap dispensers in the bathroom rather than toiletries puts it firmly in the budget market in my opinion. Food options in the Victory Pub were limited and beer expensive but you expect that in a hotel. Breakfast was OK.
I guess it's main draw are the leisure facilities but as we weren't interested in using these next time I'll probably pick the nearby Premier Inn for less ££ but the same standard.

Room Tip: I don't know if there were any functions on the night we were staying but we were on the 2nd flo...

If they would just be a little more careful when cleaning the guest rooms (so you avoid finding the last guest's socks and perhaps his wife's hairpin in the (bath) room), invested in new and working soap dispensers in the bathtubs/showers and found a solution to lower noise from squash courts and functions on weekends, this would be a really nice business hotel. Nice Starbucks in reception area and restaurant does a reasonably nice job at dinner. I will definitely come back and hope to find a more inspired management team then. The staff has potential, just needs to be properly managed.

Had a drink in the village bar before a party in the main hotel, the draught beer was really warm as was the bottles. I asked for my bottle to be changed i was told i will get you a glass of ice as all the bottles are like that.
Really esxpensive too im not tight but two beers eight pounds thats expensive.
Wouldnt mind if it was good. My recmmendation is dont bother. Captive audience so they can rip you off.

The village provides lots of facilities. But for me a lot of them are superfluous: ballroom, meeting rooms, gym, posh restaurant.

What I need in a hotel is a decent bedroom furnished to an acceptable standard with a excellent bed, good breakfast, and a decent TV: the village provides most of these, but the TV offering is dire: a poor selection of channels (basically 1-5+various sky sports) delivered via an ancient hotel TV system with v.poor quality: I couldn't even plug my own laptop into the TV to watch films from that as the TV is "boxed in". The bed was a big soggy too...

One good thing about the village is the bar serves proper English Beer :-)

Next time I think I'll stay in the Premier Inn over the road: it's not much cheaper, but the TV and beds are far better!

We had stayed in this hotel once before and really enjoyed it. This time we were given room 111. We arrived at 6.30pm, after a bad journey with serious traffic jams. On entering our room we heard loud thudding sounds. After 10 minutes we phoned reception and were told someone would come and find out where the noise was coming from. After 30 minutes we phoned again, the noise was continual. This time were we're told the noise was because of the squash courts echoing through to the room, it would finish at 8 pm and start again at 10am. When I asked if no one had ever complained about it before, I was told that I was the first to do so. I write this review to warn people about room 111 !

Room Tip: AsK for a room away from the squash courts

We wanted to eat in the hotel. We went to the restaurant at around 8pm and were told we would have a half hour wait as they had run out of menus!!! There was only about 4 tables being used at the time and it seemed ridiculous that they made us wait. No one offered us a drink while we were waiting and the staff seemed to not even notice we were there. Eventually we were shown to a very dark and dingy round table that would sit 8 even though there was only 4 of us! We ordered our food and it took an HOUR to arrive. In fact it was probably more than that. The steaks were burnt to a crisp when they eventually arrived and the chips were cold. Then the staff started to clean up and shut down the place even though we were still eating!! Awful service!!!
