“Pleasant overnight stay for a wedding”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We spent a night at the Oatlands when attending a friend's wedding reception. The booking process was easy and when we mentioned online we were attending a wedding we received an email offering to upgrade our room, which was nice. We had an executive room, king size bed, very comfortable, room was a good size, with a safe and a fridge, good to have a cold drink in the room. The hotel hosted a good wedding, bar prices good for beer/lager, but extortionate for spirits, over £15 for a large g&t!! Rooms were quiet and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast buffet the next day had a lot of variety, but overall was average at best, why do hotels with buffets always seem to insist on serving room temperature fruit juices, Oatlands was no exception. Overall a pleasant stay and an enjoyable wedding venue. If I was invited to another event at this hotel, I would be pleased to stay.

Room Tip: Ensure you mention if you are attending a specific function, such as a wedding for discounted room r...

This is a really historical place, and having lived in the area for most of my life until we moved to Lincolnshire, it was familiar and I had been to a couple of weddings there. We booked it on Laterooms as we were going to visit family and thought we would treat ourselves. I wanted a twin room and it was a bit difficult for them on the deal I had, so we had to pay an extra £10 for a so-called executive room. It was very clean, very comfy beds, found the 'spare'pillows in the wardrobe so that was ok. A bit disappointed that they had simply hoiked the double out and put twins in, the bedside tables not fitting properly, the light switches hard to reach and then obviously no bedspreads as the double one with its blanket were on the floor in the wardrobe. Only beef though as the Hotel cannot be responsible for kids running up and down the hallways and screaming all night, and they cannot be responsible for the bride, a bag of bones who, just because she had a white dress, really should get a grip and realize it isn't all about her, and I hadn't come to worship on the day, she was in the reception area, therefore in the way!!!! I should imagine she had a lovely day though as right up until we were a mile away, the weather was fine, then it started to absolutely pour down. Marvellous place for photo opportunities for a wedding. A bit posh and up themselves at reception, but it is Weybridge dontchaknow, so to be expected.

Room Tip: I couldn't help you as they will probably say they don't have it and charge you extra and th...

We stayed here in July for two nights as we were attending a wedding reception at the hotel. There was some confusion over our booking, made months ago, we booked a deluxe room with a lake view but were shown to a standard room with a view of the car park. Eventually they found us a deluxe room with a partial view of the lake, so not a good start.
The room was large and clean and the staff were very helpful, however there are simply not enough staff on duty. As an example on the Friday evening we arranged to meet people in the bar for a drink but there was only one barman there so it took 20 minutes to get a drink ( and the drinks are very expensive, £28.00 for a bottle of house wine). Also on the Friday evening there was another wedding on and this meant we could not use the terrace as the wedding had spilled out into the otter parts of the hotel
On the plus side as a wedding venue it is very good and the food that was served was superb, possibly some of the best we have ever had at a wedding for over over 100 people

I stayed here for work and it wouldnt be my first choice but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived

The grounds are lovely with attached golf course so nice for an evening or morning walk.

The facade is grand and the foyer is what you would expect based on the facade. The rooms to me are then a bit of a let down as was the food for such a "top" looking hotel.

The buffet on the Sunday was nice and our meal during the week was ok but I have had better at a local establishment

It also wasnt expensive so I guess it was great value but if I am staying in regional areas I prefer a small pub / hotel. This may come from travelling a lot and staying at some international hotels but it wasnt quite what I was looking for but if you were with a group of people then it is will be a perfect fit.

Excellent welcome, very comfortable room, lovely food but shame there is no pool. Very good for personal or business. Most of the bar and waiting staff did not have a great understanding of English though and did not look happy but they got there in the end !!

This is a beautiful building with lovely features. The gardens are beautiful, but there are not enough staff to cope with a busy hotel and those who were there were unmotivated and not well trained. There was a wedding over two days and the rooms were very noisy ALL night as a result.
This is the first really bad hotel that I have stayed at in the UK Very disappointing , and will not return.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor

We stayed overnight at the Weybridge hotel to attend a wedding. My in-laws, brother-in-law also stayed at the same hotel. I loved the ambience of the hotel, is has a lot of panelling in the foyer. Receiption is tucked away in a corner on the far right as you enter (I didn't like that) and the main foyer has a lot of comfy seating plus a bar, restaurant and exits to the garden. It was a nice day so we had a few drinks in the garden. The garden is well established and beautiful. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good - lots of choices: fresh fruit, porridge, cereals, cold cuts of meat, cheese, croissants, poached eggs, bacon, yoghurt etc. Our room was lovely, very nice bathroom. The only complaint was we found the bed sank in the middle we did email the hotel about it afterwards it obviously needs replacing.
It was clean and ideally located for our requirements. I would certainly recommend the hotel to others. Be warned drinks at the bar are expensive!

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 4126 which was on the first floor. There is ample car parking. A small lift to u...
