Description: Set in the South Staffordshire countryside on a working farm just one mile from the village of Pattingham, The Cowshed has been converted into a fantastic contemporary restaurant. Originally the Clive Farm Dairy, the dining room now boasts a stunning interior featuring rustic oak beams and a mezzanine balcony area. The Cowshed's classic modern British menu, under instruction from Head Chef Joe Whitehouse, features favourites such as the pan-seared scallops with pancetta and sherry jus served with ciabatta toast; pan-roasted duck breast served with a zesty potato cake finished with a kumquat and grenadine jus; and the restaurant's signature Cowshed game pie stuffed with quail eggs and served with a sharp home made chutney.

“very nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

I have been here several times and the food has always been delicious (hang on to the chef - best around) The only fault is that the drinks are a little pricey.

“Delicious!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

Went to the Cow Shed last night with my partner after hearing so many positive reviews about it.

The Cow Shed is on a working farm and is very quirky in that fact.

The restaurant is very welcoming and homely.

We were pleasantly surprised with a small cup of complimentary soup on arrival which was a lovely touch.

My partner chose the black pudding to start and I did sneak a taste and the black pudding was delicious (and I'm not a massive of black pudding really). I had the scallops which were cooked perfectly.

As for mains I chose the belly pork which was amazing! The cabbage side it was sitting on was very tasty too. My partner chose the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. As sides we had a side of vegetables which were cooked to perfection.

We both had brownies for desserts which we felt was quite a large portion compared to the rest of the meal portions we had there for starter and main. The brownie was slightly overbooked but was tasty.

All in all I cannot wait to go back! The chef certainly knows how to cook food to perfection and their seasoning of the food is spot on!

Whilst the cow shed is pricey the food is great quality and delicious which makes it a worthwhile experience. I have a tastecard which gave us 50% off our food which made this dining experience very worthwhile.

“slow service but great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

we were a group of 4 on a birthday evening meal out and the restaurant wasnt overly busy, however the delay between each course (or even ordering to start with) was extremely slow. The waitress was lovely, very attentive & immediately addressed an issue we had with one persons food in a polite and professional manner; but the waiter who brought drinks and also took some part of our orders was quite frankly uninterested and at worst slightly rude.

The food was really lovely though, tasty, well presented and large enough to feel pleasantly full but not so much on your plate you feel you cant manage a pudding! For the food alone we would return - which is what it is about after all, Id recommend the restaurant as long as you are aware you may well be sat waiting for a while between courses!

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2012

Lunchtime. Service was extremely slow and indifferent. Staff didn't seem overstretched but it was as if we were invisible.
We waited over 20 minutes for them to take our order then to be told our choice wasn't available. Unacceptable delays between courses and lack of urgency when glass of red wine accidentally knocked over and ready to spill into our laps.
Although we were not in any rush, we decided not to stay for coffee as the meal had taken 2 hours and the lack of attention was stressing us out (and the chairs were getting uncomfortable).
The food was nice!

“Excellent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

We returned with friends for a midweek lunch - excellent value at £12 for three courses. Evenings and weekends are more expensive.

NB - Putting the post code into the SatNav will take you close but not to the front door.
