“I felt sorry for the staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2014

The staff are friendly and helpful however they have nothing to work with... The wi fi is weak when it works ( 1 out of 4 days) , the lift broke down, the rooms had no power for a day, meaning also the key cards don't work, and the 4th floor looks and smells like a disused youth club from the 70's. However the bathroom and bed was ok .. In the daylight.. Best advice to fellow travellers ..be fit and carry a torch ..

The bed was aweful, the carpet and bathroom were not clean. We ended up leaving after an hour and going to a premier inn. When we told the girl on reception we were leaving she was not at all surprised.

Save yourself the bother and book somewhere else!

Although a nice welcome, from an indian girl at reception, was very disappointed overall. Had a room on 4th floor, which was supposedly executive style. Went through what looked like a function suite to get to room, after a very slow ride in an elevator dating from perhaps the 30's... Water stains in the roof, lights out, flies in the window glazing. And this is before I got to the room!!!. Television had no remote. No mini bar. Hardly a signal for wifi so I could work on important documents on my laptop. Stains (hopefully coffee) on the mattress, and a dusty sort of smell in the room, as if it hadn't been cleaned for a few weeks (months).Bed was okay (except the stains on matress). Slept ok, but not like at the Premier Inn. Breakfast was adequate, but far from fantastic. Coffee was tepid, and tasted like it had been on the boil since before the Romans!. The only thing I would recommend for this hotel, is unfortunately CLOSURE. Unless the Health and Safety department get there first of course.

Room Tip: Choose a good room? Go somewhere else. Simple.

theres one word missing from the title and it is LOW! as part of the "quality hotel" chain this was the worst i have stayed in. upon arrival the carpet stains should have rang alarm bells, it looked like it had suffered from some flooding! the rooms are boxy and not clean, bed very uncomfy as well the pillows, a radiator that didnt work and was constantly on so the room was uncomfortably warm! walls in the rooms are that thin you can hear the room next door switching on their lights. people coming and going all times of night and a noisy car park! hardly slept, breakfast was never served despite waiting for 10 - 15 minutes, was glad to leave! will not return!

couldn't sleep one bit in 3 days, as wedding functions were on downstairs, extremely loud music went on till early morning hours, floor was pumping! far from town therefore expensive for what it offers and it's even less than hostel standards, friendly stuff but still....

Two choices of decor off white paint walls or wood-chip, both in a poor condition.front of house gives you the impression it's not bad but then you walk up the stairs and it all changes, my room had some heat but still felt cold and dirty. The restaurant I did not sample so can't comment. Would not stay again or recommend it "No" go a bit further down the road to the the York for the same price , once an hotel becomes a Quality hotel it's reached the bottom.

Well the accomodation was definately not worth what we had paid for, i have stayed at other hotels around the UK. The food was quiet expensive and small portions so the following day we dined at the restaurant few doors away called Spiceland. At least there we did enjoy our meals.
