“Good Location, but that was it.....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

We stayed for a single night, as we were going to see Ghost : The Musical at the Theatre next door.

Upon arrival, the guy at reception told us he was really busy, and to just wait a minute. Well, he clicked away on his keyboard for 3 more minutes then gave us his attention. He gave us our room key, but this was a twin, we had booked a double. Upon our requesting a double he said they had just had 2 coaches turn up, and only had one double left, so we took it.
The room was small, and in need of decorating - a piece of paper stuck over a cracked mirror apologising for the crack. The room and toilet were clean, but the bed was very uncomfortable.

We went down for Breakfast at 9:30 on the Sunday morning, and were surprised to find it being tidied away. What was left was cold, greasy, and unappetising.

If you don't mind budget, and want a great location, and just a bed, this will suffice. If you want anything more look elsewhere

A group of us recently stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks as we were working in Wolverhampton. We got a great deal. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, the rooms (if a little old) were clean, beds very comfortable. I didn't have any problems with noise and would stay at the hotel again. The hotel is so central , close to the station and shops.

Selling 25 pound rooms on the internet for 50 pounds. Don't pay advance!!!! before seeing the rooms. Rooms like box rooms. 50 pounds per night for a dirty box room? Think about it ....!!!!. They are not willing to give you an invoice. Probably they are ripping off the UK government by pocketing VATs and income tax...

Room Tip: Don't pay without seeing the room.....It's completely garbage...

Stayed here for one night as we were going to see the Cosford Air Show - Room was ok - apart from no toilet rolls which was rectified when I went to see Reception. Food was ok too although there seemed to be more people than what the hotel could cope with! Plus there was not a lot of choice. The hotel is good if your only staying one or two nights - would probably not stay for a week or more. Hotel is central in Wolverhampton which is a plus.

Room Tip: Ok for a night.

I had stayed here once before about two years ago and the place seemed nice enough, although the food left a lot to be desired.
On remembering this, i decided to book in for one night whilst i was working in wolverhampton for two days. the price was reasonable and decided to add breakfast to the bill.
I arrived at the hotel around twenty past eight in the evening and asked where i would be able to park the cheapest. the girl on the front desk didnt seem to want to help. Another customer told me about a few places, so i went to move my car.
on coming back in i asked the receptionist again where i would be able to find food, and she informed me the restaurant was closed, and thats all i got. i went upstairs to my room, and found a leaflet for room service 'available at all times'. i tried calling a number of times but the phone just rang out.
the room was almost smaller than my bathroom at home, but seemed clean enough. the tv had 6 channels, 3 of which all seemed to be set to BBC
Granted, you get what you pay for, but the staff genuinely seemed like theyd rather be somewhere else. trying to get a response out of any of them seemed impossible. and when coming down in the morning to have breakfast, i asked if i could go in and all i got were blank stares. the breakfast was cheap, and considering id paid 7quid for the privelege, i dont think if id eaten everything at the table, it would have amounted to that cost.

definitely will not be stopping again

Having read a lot of the obsessive reviews and seen the pedantic pictures that had been posted I still had no worries about coming here because I only paid £28 for a single room which is flippin cheap!! People should realise, at this price you should not expect to be residing in palatial luxury and when you complain it only serves to make you look daft.

It took me seconds to check in with no problems by a friendly young lady on reception, i did not need showing to my room as i am a big boy now. (That was a dig at a previous poster)

I had initial problems getting into my door but then I realised that i was putting the key card in too fast and you need to put it in fairly slowly. Once in i saw the room was generously equipped with tv & remote, trouser press, kettle with tea and coffee. There were toiletries in the bathroom along with a couple of spotless white towels.

I must impress how spotless my room was, Look, I dont care how much dust is on top of the wardrobe or under the pelmet behind the curtain, why would one be? The bathroom was gleaming, it had a toilet, a sink and a bath with shower, from that point on the size of the room was quite irrelevant. The shower had a nice pressure and a constant heat which is important.

I went out for the night and asked on the way out if I could have some more coffee, there was a gentleman behind reception who gave me a big smile and held a big tray of teas and coffee sachets for me.

On the way back the front door was locked but after ringing the bell I was promptly let in with minimum of fuss with yet more polite smiley service.

Top show all round!!!

There was a card in the room that pointed out that maintaining the hotels was like painting the Forth Bridge and they are bound to miss the odd thing and apologise about it, they suggest if there is anything you notice to write it down and hand it in to reception so the fact people would moan given this positive attitude is stunning.

I would stay again!

Room Tip: There are no 'good views' from any of the rooms.

This is the 3rd time i have stayed at the Britannia Wolverhampton. Glutton for punishment? Not at all. I paid £29.50 for bed and breakfast for 2 people for a Sunday stopover. I wasn't expecting 4* luxury for that price. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was fine. Booked again for September.
