Everything about this hotel was average including the price. For one night's stay it is ok. Room service was reasonable although thevselection was not extensive. Breakfast had a limited selection. The heating did not work which was challenging. I got the room warm through putting the towel rail on high!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We stayed here on New Year's Eve and it was fabulous. The team at check-in had a great sense of humour and did everything they could to accommodate our having three rooms together. The hotel is quite small - only about 60 rooms - so they did a great job for us. The bar is friendly and intimate and the staff are charming and helpful. The drinks are a bit pricy, but that's probably aimed at well-helled race punters as the hotel is owned by Wolverhampton Race Course, which is one of the most successful in the country.

The function in the Racecourse was outstanding and, although I know that isn't technically the hotel, it's all part of the same package. Again, the food and service was exemplary. There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar after the function and we enjoyed a nightcap before bed. Beds are a bit small - they don't really do King size beds, and I wish we'd asked for some softer pillows, which you can in a Holiday Inn normally.

We had breakfast included in our room rate, and I'd recommend you do that as £13.95 each is much more pricy than you'll pay on an inclusive. It's quite a good feed, though, and the lady behind the hot food counter was really on the ball. They cook some things to order - porridge, fried eggs, etc, so it's pretty fresh when you get it. There wasn't as much fruit selection as I'd have liked, but there was some.

Everything went smoothly at checkout and we're thinking of going back next New Year's Eve. A great experience: thank you, Holiday Inn, Garden Court, Wolverhampton.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the race enclosure.

One of the newly refurbished rooms, overlooking the parade ring on the first floor. Cleaned to a high standard, tea and coffee provided, room smelt fresh, no problems with noise. We enjoyed our 1 night stay after a race meeting.

stayed here for 2 nights through work, rooms are spacious, the breaksfast was lovely and the staff friendly, would recommend you take your own shampoo, bath foam etc. Very easy to find as the hotel is at the racecourse and is sign posted clearly

The public areas of this hotel are very clean and bright, however on entering the bedroom we were confronted by what can only be described as a black hole ! Very bad lighting two small wall lights and a table lamp, why don't hotels put a light in the centre of the room? Then at least you can see what you are doing and can read or use decent light bulbs, there are no toiletries only some cheap soap in a plastic container attached to the wall, unable to take shower as the temperature could not be controlled, only scalding hot

On arriving when we got to our room the card key didn't work so went back to reception and a different member of staff activated it then all ok, then went to dinner and waited sometime before a member of staff was able to seat us, the receptionist was too busy talking to notice we was waiting, we was then seated and kitchen staff and waitresses were kind friendly and helpful, the food was very nice and couldn't be faulted, value for money, comfy rooms, good parking, clean and tidy, perfect for a good nights sleep.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

The hotel is situated at Wolverhampton Racecourse, perhaps not the usual place to stay when on business, but after passing through a very built-up area the open situation is a pleasant relief. The rooms are nicely furnished in a traditional style and are of a more than adequate size. Plentiful free parking.
I was not upgraded as a Platinum member but I was given a quietly situated room as requested--maybe all the rooms are the same.

Very efficient and pleasant welcome. The hotel was not busy and I had no problems getting an early bar meal and eating this in the restaurant. Breakfast was ample but with the usual problem of food not being kept hot enough in the buffet.

Would stay again.
