As the title says, a lovely place to go and eat, location is superb, you can go for a nice walk with superb scenery just at the back of car park you can walk up to fields and beautiful Sussex hill views, alas the food you get here is always hit and miss!! you can go some nights and have a fantastic carvery meal, meat tender, veg and pots fresh and crispy, yet other times you can have left over from lunch dry and horrible meat!!and manky dry veg Ie two weeks ago we had the best carvery meal ever at Highdown but we went again last Saturday at 5.30 and it was dreadful :( you can choose two meats from beef, pork, turkey, gammon. all were dry on this occasion.
You can complain but they wouldn't care that much, the youngsters work there are polite but seem to have little input into to food side of things, must be hard on the budgets they have however we are the paying customers so should have better standards.
Have tried giving some helpful tips to the group but previous letters have fallen on deaf ears, obviously relax inns are a small chain that is hanging on in there?? Still no wine or drinks list something that has always annoyed me! Why not?
one has no idea how much a drink will cost? surely it can be too hard to have some printed? or even have some dessert promos on table to and tempt customers to have one?
again customers have no clue whats on offer??
Such a shame as there is so much potential at the Highdown,
one day a Michells and Butler type
Toby carvery will no doubt snap this place up !!!
