I'm not a huge fish lover but this is my mother's favourite restaurant and we celebrated her 84th birthday here early February. You walk in straight from the street into a large open restaurant. You are greeted with wooden floors coupled with wooden tables and chairs. Very nice warm feel to it. Service was excellent - not overbearing but just enough. They were also brilliant at helping my sister and myself getting Mum in and out of the premises - so v good with older people!
The menu was impressive - lots to choose from and you can have your fish done - fried, grilled, baked etc etc. Basically how you want it. Fish mains around £13-£20.00 so some dishes not cheap but good portions when they arrived. You can also choose chips or salad with mains as well which was a good option. I chose seafood pasta and it came with masses of shellfish in a nice white wine sauce - absolutely delicious - for about £11.00 I think. Huge portion and couldn't manage it all. There is also steak, sausage and mash etc etc for the non fish eaters. They also have a specials board.
My mother finished off her main course (halibut - looked lovely) and ordered a baked cheesecake which she duly polished off!. I had a small vanilla ice cream and I had to squeeze that in! Coffees followed and all in all a good 2.5 hour visit to a very nice little restaurant.
Yes the tables are a little close together and it could get noisy - we went on a Saturday lunchtime so it was busy - lots of tables booked. It really is a suitable restaurant for all types - i.e. oldies to youngsters! Looking around there were a variety of each age group sitting there. My sister has also brought her daughter and grandchildren here (aged 13 and 7) and they loved it. Would suggest booking as it does get busy.
Am sure we will return.
