“Fantastic food and reasonably priced”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced, we are often advised on a Saturday that the wait may be up to 45 minutes but have never had to wait that long.

This is definitely a pub where people go to eat rather than drink.

Staff are always very friendly and helpful.

We visit about once a month when we are in the area and would not dream of going anywhere else having tried a couple of the other local pubs.

“My local”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013 via mobile

I live near the half moon and eat there on a regular basis, it is normally busy, you may have to wait but it's worth the wait as I have, over many visits, never had a bad meal. The meal always arrives piping hot and it is always, in my opinion, a generous helping. I laughed at some of the negative views on here...
How ridiculous, there is obviously a genuine reason why you may have to wait...it's because they're busy...people like the food and service...doh!!!
If you want to sit immediately and and get served quickly go there for between 5 and 6 in the evening. As for the barstaff and landlord, you'll find them to be very approachable if you treat them respectfully...they're just very busy and trying to keep a lot of people happy....for the few pretentious, self obsessed, ignorant individuals with horrible rude screaming kids, do everyone and yourself a favour, go to one of the many fast food outlets...you'll probably be treated in a manner that you've become accustomed too...and no, I don't have shares in the pub or any connection other than I eat there regularly

“Good value food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

From the outside, and indeed when you enter, this pub looks a bit in need of some TLC.Where the dining area is situated though is very pleasant.Good pub grub served by cheerful staff. If a quiet night is what you want,I think I would avoid the weekends,Rest of the time you shoudn't be disappointed.

“Always delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

Have been many times before and always will continue to go had the sandwhich which is so tasty and big which I love only criticism is the waitress an older lady is very plain and doesn't seem to want to go the extra mile to see if you require anything asked for some extra pickle and she sort of looks at you vague doesn't really smile either :( but the food never disappoints well done half moon :)
