This was a weekend away for my Mums 60th - we decided to try the Crown and Victoria - very easy to get to even when navigating in the dark when we didn't know the area.
Very warm atmosphere. The food was fresh and extremely tasty, we were fortunate to arrive before the best of the locals who had been promised an Indian buffet so the kitchen was very busy but our individual choices from the menu were treated with equal importance. We had the ribeye steak which was perfect and the pollock with chestnut and mushroom ravioli. To finish we had an assortment of delicious sorbet, mango jelly and creme brûlée.
This is a great locals pub but if you are expecting pub food go elsewhere this is a sophisticated menu and demonstrates culinary skill. Prices are of course higher, but you get what you pay for.
I dropped a star because we were initially seated in a rather cold part of the pub and had to ask to be moved as we were shivering.
Unfortunately the creme brûlée wasn't set but overall we really enjoyed the meal and this was a minor annoyance for us as the rest of the dessert was immense.
Worth a visit! Keep up the great work guys and girls!
