“Fantastic historic house-modern day service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

My husband and I have just returned from an overnight stay at the Boys Hotel; we were both thoroughly impressed by the hall and the friendliness of the staff here. the hall is a beautiful Jacobean country house, with only 8 bedrooms. The bedroom we had (Windsor room) was very spacious, the bed was so comfortable neither of us wanted to get up! The other rooms in the house are also comfortable and tastefully furnished, the hotel is so intimate, it really is an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy, busy world. The evening menu is a little surprising in that it is not extensive and offers traditional meals, initially, I was a bit disappointed with the choices on offer, however, my husband and I had different starters and main meals, and I can honestly say the food was delicious, the waiter was attentive but not intrusive and the level of service was superb. We would definitely stay here again very happily.

Wonderful 17th century hotel with lots of period features. The hotel is set in the most beautiful grounds and all the bedrooms have been individually designed with lots of old charm character. Perfect full english breakfast and the most welcoming, helpful and friendly staff.

Having stayed at Boys Hall several times in both a business and personal capacity I would like to comment that as always the service, food, accommodation has been outstanding.
Our staff team and partners consisting of 32 people had our belated xmas celebrations last evening and Marcus and his team made our evening totally enjoyable.

We also took over the 8 rooms available in the hotel and each and every one of the team commented over the excellent breakfast the next day as to how they had a restfull night's sleep in ther individual luxury room and also how they had enjoyed the evening.

This was our second stay at Boys Hall. The Hall looked magical with all the Christmas decorations. The welcome was as warm as before. The Christmas meal was excellent and our room was comfortable, clean and unique. There were two company Christmas 'do's' on during our stay which added to our experience. We were encouraged to join in and enjoyed the disco and the company. All the staff were wonderful as ever, and worked so hard to make our stay the enjoyable experience it was. We will be back. After all, we have now tried 2 of the 8 rooms so will have to return at least another 6 times to experience the remaining 6!
Not just a hotel, more a homecoming, or a stay with friends

What a little gem. The staff were really great, very friendly and made us feel more than welcome. The room we had was fabulous. Wonderful comfy bed, big spacious room overlooking the front of the gardens. Just tastefully decorated with beautiful objects and furniture. The food was very good and the service was prompt and very reasonable. I will be back for sure. My favourite place to be me!

As soon as we arrived at Boy Hall we felt very much at home having been greeted by warm and friendly staff. We stayed in the Windsor room which was huge and light with a view to the front of the hotel gardens. The only slight down side was the bathroom was up 3 steep steps which you had to negotiate whilst ducking under a low doorway!
With nearly 500 years of history Boys Hall has some wonderful tales to tell. Get talking to any member of staff or Marcus, the owner, and they will all be glad to pass on stories of the halls previous owners and the odd haunting or two!
It is well to note that as the hotel has just 8 bedrooms the menu in the week is limited, although we were happy with the choices available. I understand that with notice they will cater for your individual needs. There is always a vegetarian choice on the menu though. At the weekends they have a chef so the choices are more varied.
The gardens are lovely with a huge mulberry tree, sunken garden and a pretty area at the front where I sat and enjoyed my morning coffee in the sun. Boys Hall is licenced for marriages and have a gazebo on the lawn for the summer and a large conservatory for the winter ceremonies.
We felt very much at home here. All the staff seemed very happy and, in fact, one member said working there was like being a member of a happy family.
My partner had booked us into Boys Hall as a birthday surprise for me and we couldnt have celebrated in a nicer place.
I hope we get the chance to return there, possibly to one of their Christmas 'dos' which I hear are wonderful, with Marcus and the staff decorating the hall to abundance!

This is a lovely small hotel in an incredible building. The grounds are well kept and beautifully laid out. You are made to feel welcome the moment you arrive. Marcus and his team made our stay a pleasure. Thank you. I will definately recommend this hotel to friends and family.
