I started my visit with a 35 minute talk by Peter Bolton (hope I've got his name correct). He talked about some of the paintings on display in the squash court. This man is brilliant! He was so eloquent he as much as anything made my visit. Upton House itself was owned by the son of the man who founded Shell and as a result he was one of the wealthiest men in the country. The house contains some extremely interesting items. Upton House is presented as it would be during a weekend house party in the 1930s. The gardens are absolutely stunning they are packed full of beautiful flowers. There is also a large lily pond and a smaller pond tucked away. To cap it all the food in the restaurant was delicious! I will definitely be paying a return visit.
