We loved our stay Fernydale Farm, a wonderful B&B on a working dairy farm in the Peaks District of England. Our pretty room was clean and comfortable, with an incredible view of gorgeous green hills. Our excellent hosts, Yasmin and Bill, made us feel right at home, and their granddaughter introduced us to the cows, including two calves that were born in the short time we were there. Yasmin cooked a delicious breakfast to order, which we washed down with her excellent coffee. Our days were spent exploring Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and the beautiful countryside. When rain kept us indoors, we enjoyed the view from the B&B s conservatory. Nearby Buxton was convenient for meals and other necessities. On our last night, Yasmin made us a dinner reservation at the Royal Oak, which was quite excellent. (Be sure to save room for dessert!)
Fernydale is great place for families - they even welcome dogs. One of the best things about Fernydale is that it’s a real working dairy farm focused on feeding and milking and caring for the lovely black and white cows. (We woke up in the morning to the beautiful sight of a long parade of cows walking slowly to pasture.) It was a wonderful experience for our son to see the workings of the farm and meet the cows up close. Highly recommended.
Room 4 has a gorgeous view of the peaks and the pasture.
