“best curry around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Been quite a few times, for both take away and eating in. Loved the food every time I've been and i will continue to revisit to it. i would safely say that its one of the best currys in the local area in my opinion, the staff are very friendly and chatty which i like.

“Very Mixed Experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Having enjoyed a xmas party here I was really looking forward to eating at the Taj again. Myself and husband visted on a January Saturday night and hadn't booked but there were quite a lot of tables for two available so we were hopeful we wouldn't need to wait long. No mention was made of waiting times and our food order was taken promptly and drinks provided quickly. After an hours wait we were told we would be seated very soon, 20 mins later we got up to leave and was told 2 mins and eventually we were seated at a table for 4, the waiter advised he didn't want us to feel squashed?? One of the free tables for two would have been fine. The food was nice but unfortunately my husbands curry has a long back hair in it (neither of us have black hair). We showed the waiter who was very apologetic and said he would deduct money off the bill. When we got the bill the cost of a naan was deducted i.e. the cheapest item on the menu. So we complained and my husbands curry was deducted. So all in all the service couldn't be faulted but if customers are going to wait an hour and a half for food please just say so and we could have gone elsewhere for a drink in the meantime, don't keep them hanging on with the aim that they will spend money on drinks in your restaurant. The food was good minus the hair but the whole experience means we won't be going back.

“Very pleasing food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Family of 4 all ate for £70, having starters, mains and drinks, which I suppose is about the norm.

The chicken tikka starter ranks as one of the best I've had (and I've had a lot). Very tender and fresh.

Three of us had Karahi Chicken which was excellent. My wife had lamb passanda - which was ok, but she cooks better herself. Nan Breads were good too.

Staff were welcoming, chatty and very efficient. Would have no problems going back to try another dish.

“Good Food. Enjoyed the lamb Karahi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

Eveing meal here on a busy Saturday night with 5 friends - a university reunion. They were slow to seat us, but thats because they were waiting for the previous tables to leave.

Food was excellent, all my co-diners agreed. My only reservation was the slightly burnt keema nan, which after a short discussion, they changed free of charge.

Staff were on the whole largely friendly

£20 a head for a decent currey plus beer - can't really argue with that too much.
