Wow!!! this place is amazing. We (4 of us) had booked in to a farm B&B right in the middle of nowhere in the Peaks District (Derbyshire) and thought we would go for a drive and check out the beautiful ''Peaks'' scenery. We came across this fabulous town of Buxton (which rivals Bath for its wonderful architecture). The we found this wonderful theatre rigtht in the middle of town. We were dressed like rag bags but couldn't resist checking if there were any seats left for that nights performance of ''Joseph And His Technicolour Dreamcoat''. No worries. Great seats, a packed house and a West End quality production of this wonderful musical. As good, as if not better than 3 shows we'd recently seen in the West End a month earlier. The lead was "Keith'' from the ''Any Dream Will Do'' TV show which I'd seen in Australia a couple of years earlier, so there was nothing amateurish about this show. I have never seen so many standing ovations. This Opera House is a national treasure!!!. Buxton and it's little treasure buildings are something that every Brit should put on their ''to do'' list. The history and architecture really fit in with this beautiful town. The historical association with Mary Queen of Scots, the wonderful parks & gardens and the huge hothouse & Exhibition Centre. This town has it all, but the Opera House did it for me!!!! Looking at their upcoming programme it looks like this place isn't the secret that I thought it was. Fabulous!!!
