Rang the day before to book to peruse Buxton at leisure and go for drinks around town. Wasn't disappointed. Paid £55 for 2 with a continental type breakfast. Although old fashioned and creaky floors, we were impressed. although we didn't eat there or drink, the bar and coffee lounges were very nice and old fashioned. We would/will stay there again. Admittedly, when you flushed the toilet or ran the cold water the man with the road digger behind the wall set about digging. Must be a water pressure thing. Loved Buxton and tried 3 pubs though there are more. the pub next to the Opera house was cheap and nice with plenty of character. In the afternoon Pims and lemonade were for sale during the break (afternoon matinee) outside the opera house and in the evening wine was available. Cute. We ate at the Indian Palace around the corner and the service and food was excellent. Cant wait to go back.
