A very well set out guest house with comfortable rooms in the middle of Buxton in Derbyshire.
We stayed two nights at this guest house. On our first night we placed our orders for breakfast for the next morning with the land lady. Breakfast was perfect, that night she asked if we would like the same again, this was duly provided. The place had other guests who were obviously regular guests using Buxton as a base for the beautiful walks that surround this area.

Room Tip: Ask the local information centre if you are not sure.

A warm welcome awaits you at Lowther House. Excellent accommodation with little extras that make it special. Good location near the market square. Comfort of the bedroom was excellent followed by super breakfast. Elizabeth is a super host.

Myself and my girlfriend stopped at the lowther for 2 nights on our trip to Buxton. We were very impressed with everything from the delicious breakfast, very comfy bed and large room. THe place is spotless and Elizabeth is genuinely lovely and friendly.
There is off street parking, a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

This B& B is a real find. It is located within easy walking distance to the centre of town and has parking for guests. The hostess, Elizabeth, handles her job with good humour and efficiency and has just the right touch of supplying all your needs without intruding on guest's privacy. The room was nicely decorated as was the whole house. Breakfast was fine and served as we wished. We thoroughly recommend this B&B as the place to stay in Buxton.

We could not fault this very nice B&B. The room was very clean and very well appointed, down to cotton buds in the bathroom and wine glasses along with a fridge. Breakfast was plentyful and the veggie option was great. There was no noise from other guests and we thought we were the only guests until we met the others at breakfast! Located well in a quiet street but yet only a few minutes into town on foot. Fantastic local Thai restaurant was recommended to us by the proprietor.

We have stayed at Lowther House four or five times over the last few years. This is always our first choice when we visit Buxton, so we book early to avoid disappointment. Lowther House was a terrific find in the first place and I am tempted to keep it's A1 rating a secret. On reflection I believe that Elizabeth who runs the Guest House more than deserves high praise. A warm greeting when you contact to book, and the greeting is just as warm when you arrive. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. The rooms are absolutely spotless and are well seviced with all you need, including fresh milk and a fridge to keep it in. Elizabeth is friendly and informative about the local area, but is never intrusive. The rooms are airy and light and the beds we find very comfortable. Breakfast is really good with lots of options, and more than plenty to see you through to what ever you decide to do at lunchtime - or beyond. The central location of the Guest House makes it ideal- just a walk away from the Town Centre and all its attractions. We find that there are more than enough eating places in the town, and they too are just a walk away - lovely for a stroll back afterwards. The Opera House is also just a walk away. It means that if you are staying in Buxton and you like strolling around, you can leave your car in the free parking place allocated to your room.If you are also looking for perfection in hospitality this is the place for you!

Room Tip: All the rooms seem good. One seems not to have en- suite but its own lovely large private bathroom...
