Lowther Guest House is spotlessly clean, well decorated and comfortable. Excellent varied breakfast and friendly personal service. Free car parking with designated car space

Room was fantastic - spotlessly clean, well decorated and appointed, light and airy.

The owner was very welcoming, friendly and likable although maybe lacking a little advice on the town.

The public spaces also were very nice, lovely dining room and very good lounge.

The breakfast was plentiful although the quality of the sausages was low and I would have preffered bakery style bread rather than sliced. I don't think there was any yoghurt available, which I missed.

Location is perfect. Quiet street, close to the key areas of Buxton.

We stayed here due to the central location and good price. It was a very pleasant stay. We were impressed with the decoration and the generous breakfast- though we couldn't finish it! The owner was very friendly; we didn't need any advise on eating/things to do but she seemed to be giving good advice to others!

My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary, booked latish, but were very fortunate to be accepted. Drive-way parking. The place felt good as soon as we walked through the door and got better when we were taken to our room. We were warmly received and given good advice for eating out to suit our wishes. A short walk to pavillion/gardens/shops etc. It took us a long time to walk to Polole's cavern, we went wrong, but 10/15 minutes to walk back the right way. No street noise during the day or night. Bit hilly, but that's Buxton!!
A short stride to Museum/Gallery. Fresh milk rather than individual prepack tubs, fridge and wine glasses in the room show that the proprietors have given this a good deal of thought. And a good English breakfast to send us on the way. Well recommended.

We stay in Lowther Guest House for one night. It located very close the town centre but a quiet place. The hosts are friendly and welcome even we come early around 1pm. Fridge, hairdryer, kettle and daily milk are provided inside the room. However, the fridge made some noise. The bed is comfortable. Breakfast is full size and good taste. The only thing I think may be improved are the shower system and radiator. Cos we stay in the top floor, the temperature is still a little bit cold even the radiator is on during the night in October. The electric showers provide unstable hot water control, not power showers. The check out time is 10am and breakfast time is between 8 to 9am.

We have just returned from a very pleasant 3 day stay at this guest house. The proprieter Elizabeth is very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are recently redecorated and refurbished to a high standard and are absolutely spotless, with decent showers. Our only complaint was that it was a very hard bed in our room, (room 2), but the morning we were leaving, the door to another room was open for cleaning as the guests had just left, and I sneaked in and sat on that bed, which was definitely more springy, so would request that room if we stay in Buxton again.
The hot breakfasts are very nicely cooked with a good choice - the only minor drawback being that as there is no 'buffet bar' as such the cereals, juice, yogourt etc is brought to you rather than choosing your own amount; but Elizabeth is very amenable to your requests. The cost was very economical, being slightly less than most of the other Buxton B&B's, with no compromise on quality. There was parking on the drive, and also free on-road parking if preferred.

It is very centrally situated, just a few minutes walk from the main square, where there are some good pubs and restaurants - good pub food in 'The Old Sun Inn' along in the High Street.
