“Lovely.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

Some of the best tapas I've ever had (and my family has a house in Spain). Beautifully presented on old school British crockery and every item (and we ordered quite a few!) was delicious. Highly recommend.

“Below average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

We ordered quite a few dishes and to be honest they were disappointing and very expensive for what we got. The only value for money would be the patatas bravas but then they tasted like they had been heated up. The tortilla was dry as a bone and freezing cold so the food certainly wasn't cooked fresh by any means. The calamari for £5 were a complete rip off as we only got 7 calamari which is just stingey. The prawns were nice but there could have been more of them and the meatballs which I was excited about were the consistency of sludge and didn't taste of anything. We ordered a beer which didn't arrive and upon asking about it the landlady overheard and got very defensive and thought we were asking about our food order and immediately said 'well they arrived early!' When she realised it was because the beer hadn't arrived she was very apologetic. I was disappointed because of all the good reviews on here but certainly wouldn't bother if I was in the area again.

“Great Tapas and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

We arrived in Hay-on-Wye on Friday 15th after a 3 hour journey. We were looking for somewhere we could have a relaxing drink and some food. We were given a table and shown the Menu Board Specials and there was also a standard menu. The beer was Estrella Dam, a pilsner beer brewed in Barcelona. We had a few bits to eat and a few beers. Couldn't believe how tasty the food was. We moved to the lounge downstairs once we had finished our tapas to let them get use of the table as it was starting to get busy. The lounge was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed it so much we went back for lunch on Saturday. Staff very friendly and they remembered us from the night before.

“Terrific Tapas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2014

I had lunch here today with my husband who has been before and liked it then. Today's tapas lunch was great and tasted very authentically Spanish. We had a lovely fish stew, garlic prawns and chicken stuffed with chorizo. There were some interesting vegetarian choices too. All super and served with excellent rustic chunks of a variety of breads. My wine was yummy and my husband enjoyed his pint of beer. The bar has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. It is certainly somewhere I would be comfortable on my own too. Recommended highly!
