“Under scaffolding”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Maybe we visited at the wrong time as large part of building is under repair/restoration which combined with crowds did not make the visit particularly memorable.

“Walks for all abilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I'm a local but have just rediscovered the beauty not 20 mins drive from my house! the Glen of Aherlow in Tipperary is a peaceful valley with spectacular walks and climbs for all ages and fitness levels. Simply download all the walking guides here http://aherlow.com/walking/routes-maps/ then see whatever takes your fancy and as they say here "you are on the pigs back" or in Irish "ar mhuin na muice" There's a great little local tourist office which has a wealth of information on things not mentioned in any guidebooks Very friendly lady called Helen (not me!!!) runs it +353 62 56331 or info@aherlow.com My favourite walk is up Cush - where the glory of the entire range is laid out before you. There are 5 lakes nestled in the mountains to visit. You can hire a guide to take you off piste. he's a real character - Mike on aherlowwalks@gmail.com Great area for quaint little pubs and music too. In fact I'm going to take a week off work and go on my "holidays" there proper

“Wonderful whatever the weather!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Love walking in the mountains even if we got soaked. Galtees are a short drive away and the walk at the back of the hotel is lovely with amazing views. Not far from Cahir Castle to take in a bit of culture too. You just can't go wrong!!!

“Beautiful Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

A stunning area to travel around especially if the weather is good. Make sure to go to the Aherlow House Hotel for lunch. The food and portions were great.
