“A lovely relaxing weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We had a wonderful weekend at Hidden Valley yurts on the 26th October. The facilities were excellent and everything was clean and tidy. The yurt itself was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the farm through the alpaca fields and the views were amazing. The local pub the carpenters arms was great for food and we enjoyed an evening meal there. Warm clothes and wellies were a must at this time of year, we are looking forward to going back in the summer. Thank you Amanda, Peter and of course Tilly the dog for a great weekend.

Have just got back from a lovely weekend here!
We have never stayed in a yurt before, so it was a wonderful experience! The yurts were lovely! The kitchen was fantastic and shower was nice and hot! We loved walking around the farm. It was a really relaxing break. Amanda and Peter were incredibly helpful and friendly and really made such an effort to make sure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable! Would recommend this to anybody who fancies a relaxing, fun, outdoor break! We would definitely come again!

My fiance flew over from the States and after not seeing each other for a long time, we wanted a nice get away together for a few nights. The Yurt was the perfect place. Amanda and Peter are great people and were so flexible with our needs. This place rocked - we had Sally Kay come by to our Yurt and gave us an indian head massage each - AMAZING!! Very nice lady. We had the log fire going all night with our fairy lights and lanterns inside, it was so romantic. The kitchen and bathroom facilites were great - everything you need for a fab glamping experience!! Have recommended to many friends already and we will definitely visit again. Thanks for a great break... Claire & Chris

Hidden Valley Yurts is situated in a beautiful setting and offers excellent accommodation with 6 really great yurts together with a communal kitchen area - each yurt has its own fridge - and bathrooms. The bathroom has 2 proper flushing toilets and there is a separate bath with shower and another shower; all were spotlessly clean. The site is on an 80 acre farm with alpaca and Jacobs sheep which is ideal for families as well as couples. There is a stream running through and a large clay pizza oven. You can make your own pizza, including the base using the bread-maker in the kitchen area. Two of the yurts have their own kitchen areas, with fridge, oven, hob and sink with running water from the site's spring. They also have composting toilets with absolutely no smells. Each yurt was on its own decking area with seating, a chiminea and a barbecue. The yurts could sleep 5 or 7 each with a king-size bed, Mongolian bed and futons; there was also a lovely, warming wood-burning stove which kept the place very cosy.

However, I wasn't here on holiday, but to find out more about setting up and running my own yurt site/ Peter and Amanda run several 2-day courses each year to provide perspective yurt campsite owners with information and advice. The course was outstanding; very informative and honest coving everything from site layout, planning applications, marketing and costs. For anyone considering this as a future way of life - it's far more than just a job - then this course should be a must.

Hidden Valley is a wonderful gem of a place. We live in the city but love the outdoors and this was by far the best and most relaxing camping experience we have had with our children. It had just the right mix of old-fashioned simplicity and modern facilities. The wonderfully smiley owners Amanda and Peter have added lots of extra thoughtful touches (such as a huge selection of games, toys, colouring materials and so on for the children and books for the adults) which really make a difference when travelling with a young family. Our children are aged 5 and 6 and were very happy in their comfy futons, drifting off to sleep amidst the glow of solar-powered fairy lights and tea-light lanterns. We hardly used any wood in the stove at night, as after lighting the initial batch the yurt was unbelievably warm, possibly thanks to the cosy sheep's wool felt lining which really is a marvellous natural insulator.
Our days were filled with relaxed adventures though the woods, collecting firewood and trying out the many tire and rope swings that are scattered around the property. All the shared facilities were immaculate, the water in the shower hotter than at home, the amazing corner bath big enough for the two kids to splash about in, and plenty of space for everything and everyone. We made fantastic pizza in the outdoor oven, and the children spent a whole afternoon concocting a "witch's potion" in the cauldron nearby!
We shall definitely go back - the children can't wait to go and play fetch with Tilly (possibly the world's most child-friendly dog) again and get back to splashing about in the stream...

Room Tip: We stayed in Yurt 5 which was beautifully finished in blue, had an ample private deck and is a lot c...

We had such a wonderful adventure on our Yurt holiday! The four wheel drive trek to the yurt was an exhilarating start for us and our 3 year old and we arrived to the smell of a wood fire! The back to nature brilliance of duck racing, wading in the stream, feeding the alpacas, cooking on an open fire, toasting marshmallows, picking fresh herbs and listening to birdsong - we felt totally refreshed! Amanda and Peter have thought of everything so that you can just sit back and enjoy the open space. The yurt was spotless, spacious and so comfy and the wood burner and twinkly fairy lights created such a lovely ambience and made bedtime stories with the kids very special. The facilities were perfect, hot showers, well kitted out kitchens, even toys and activities for kids. Oliver loved playing in the streams and exploring the Great Outdoors, the way things used to be! Even our eight week old daughter was happy on her first holiday in her little cot listening to the cows moo! We hope the sourdough cake we passed on to Amanda (Herman) turned out well! Say hello to Minty the Ram Lamb and Tilly for us!

Room Tip: Only stayed in Yurt 6 but couldn't fault it, slightly more secluded from the others so even more...

Didn't want to leave this amazing place! My 2 boys (9 and 6) and I had such a relaxing, fun time. Spent most of our days at the site- exploring the woods, fields, and stream. The boys loved taking Tilly the dog for walks with us, and meeting the alpacas, and sheep!
The facilities were great- so clean, and well-equipped.
The yurt was very comfortable, and spacious.
We had a campfire almost every night (don't forget the marshmallows!), and trialed the wood pizza oven- a relative success for us amateurs!
Will definitely go back!
