The bottom line is that Hilton need to spend some money on this property.
The positives are a wonderful relaxing riverside location, lovely short walk to pretty village of Dunkeld, with nice shops, galleries and cafes. The staff were friendly, many Scottish, our room 202 was clean, modern and had a nice view of the river. No shampoo provided in the bathroom, but the toiletries were very good, and we received a small complimentary tray of gorgeous strawberries, fudge and shortbread.
The pool was a touch cool for me, but still nice, and the sauna, steam room, gym, changing facilities clean and of a good standard. Did not require dinner, but buffet style breakfast was fine.
The negatives basically relate to the overall poor maintenance of the building, and this dragged the whole experience down a little. The exterior desperately needs painted, and there were prominent windows with rags as curtains, not guest bedrooms I hope. Indoors, the reception was a little basic, and the lift and corridor carpet on our floor was really filthy looking.
We paid £127.00 for the night, I enjoyed my stay, would return, and I believe that we received good value for money. However, with some investment, this hotel with its charming location, could easily move from good to great.
