My girlfriend and I stayed at The Argyll Hotel in Dunoon last weekend and it was fantastic. We booked through a company called easybreaks and it was great value for the price we paid. We had room number 16 which was very comfortable and had great views.

The food is just wonderful, non of this fancy stuff i get in other hotels which is tasteless, but the menu is very simple with a lot of home cooked dishes on it and a fair range of curries. The food was great every night. I got to say the staff are really kind and made us feel welcome all the time, always smiling and always make you laugh.

I will definatley go back!!!

I stayed at this hotel a couple of times before and returned last weekend for a break. I must say the refurbishment all the staff were going on about the last time i was there has definately added great comfort and character to the hotel. The staff are always very helpful and friendly and the food is better than ever, try their steak pie, it is fantastic. I booked my break directly with the hotel and they offered me the three nights for 99GBP thats for three nights diner, bed and breakfast, i know excellent value. I would recommend this place to anybody looking to get away and relax for a couple of days.

P.S. They have a fantastic Tapas Bar called Rio you need to definately try the seared king prawns.

My girlfiiend and i visited Dunoon las weekend and without plan decided to stay for a couple of nights at The Argyll Hotel after having a great lunch. I really got to say the staff in the hotel made us feel special and welcome. The room was okay not high standard but everything you need for £70, but the views were priceless without a doubt. One evening we ate in the Italian restaurant and the food was fabulous in all.

I will recomend this place to anybody that is thinking of visiting Dunoon, the hotel is very central for everything, the food is great value for money and tastes great and the people are just very friendly.

Having read the previous review, I was aprehensive when my wife told me she had booked The Argyll for an overnight stay in Dunoon. On arriving the reception staff were very pleasant and the room we were allocated was room 26 (The Tower Room), this was at no extra cost and the room offers views from three sides of the room. We booked in for B&B with dinner. The lounge offers great views and the meal was very good, breakfast was excellent. As it was early in the season there was some entertainment with an excellent accordion player and drummer, it's a pity no one chose to dance. Perhaps had the hotel advertised this more would have been attracted in. The room we had was clean and bright, though perhaps the windows could have been cleaner (but judging how high we were this will only be done a couple of times a years. Yes it is an old hotel, but certainly not tired. Dunoon it's self was a bit of a let down with cheap shops and closed shops, though the Tudor Tearoom and Curiosity Shoppe excelled, some nice gift shops and jewellers as well. The Argyll doesn't have a car park, though parking on the street is pretty easy after the daytrippers have gone. We used the pier car park till then. When you book ask for Room 26 (okay the lift is a tad slow but it works!). Some minor noise in the night from nearby pubs and locals seem to gather in the area outside the hotel. We would certainly go back.
