“Large park with lots of facilities great for family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We stayed for 1 week during spring bank school holidays (not holiday week in scotland) in a Rowan Comfort Lodge, Eagle 1. Book your ferry tickets in advance from the park saves lots of money (£22 for car and passengers return). Ferry crossing about 20 mins and then the park is only a few minutes drive. Lodge was spacious, clean and had everything you need for self catering. We were located on the outskirts of the park which was ideal as we used our bikes to get ourselves from the lodge to the leisure centre everyday keeping us fit .Pool, sauna, steam room, gym and jacuzzi are all free to use for self catering guests. Only the pool is available for under 16's. We also used the fun house to play table tennis and pool. Snooker over 18's only. On site restaurant good choice of food and reasonable prices. Tried archery and Paige ensured we all had great fun. All staff were really friendly and helpful. The area is full of forest walks and you don't have far to drive to find them, mountain biking routes less so and are a bit further away or cycle on forest roads. Great place to do as much or as little as you like in the middle of the usual fantastic scottish scenery.

Room Tip: Eagle cabins are far away from the centre in a quiet area. They do not have loch views though.

I went on holiday with my parents, my sister, and puppy Millie. It was a very fun experience, and all the staff were very helpful and inviting. At the start of the holiday, we got there at 7:15pm, and we rushed to the pool which was open until 9, and last check-in was 8. So we actually never got in the pool that day. There was a games room, named 'Rusty's Funhouse', its for all ages, and consists of many different things - one in particular was a 10p ticket winning machine, and with the tickets you won, you could get a prize form the kiosk, on the fine Saturday night (25th May 2013), I actually won the jackpot of 1,000 tickets! :-) I chose two mugs, which are very useful!!
Very enjoyable stay, lodge was fantastic, staff were great, food was lovely and the whole site was marvellous.

Room Tip: Rowan Comfort was the one we stayed in, and had a lovely view, choose one with a view!

stayed in a lodge with a hot tub which was great. The views were spectacular and the site and grounds were really well kept. Some members of the family did archery and said the instructor was so friendly and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We were impressed with the friendly, helpful staff especially the guys maintaining the hot tubs. The food was great at the bar and was reasonably priced. The swimming pool and changing areas were very clean. We had a great stay and plan to go back again. It is set in a lovely area and the botanic gardens are wonderful this time of year. A brilliant place to stay ! Bought our ferry tickets at reception which saved a lot and cost us only £13 for family of 5 with a car.

Stayed in Beech lodge with hot tub. The first impression from the outside of the lodge was disappointing, however that soon changed inside - absolutely lovely!. Spotlessley clean and well appointed with everything you could need for your break.

Got the ferry over using pre-booked discounted fares (which were posted v. quickly after ordering - great service), only a short drive from the ferry terminal to arrive at the park. Check in was very quick, and staff very helpful.

The activity team are fantastic, as are the activities. Very well organised and good ice-breaker games upon meeting. Dont know how they keep their energy up all day but they are a huge asset to the park.

Hunters bar / grill for food we found to be very well priced, not to mention the food was great - ate there several times during the week and not one bad experience. However more staff would be good at peak times and stopping tables being reserved, (empty for over 1 hour) would allow more customers to use this great restaurant...... perhaps a better booking system required?

Couldn't fault anything - everyone went out of their way to may our stay enjoyable and any issues resolved immediately.

Definately hope to return - a great park, without the hustle of other well known branded parks

We have been to the 'sister' park at Drimsynie (which we really enjoyed) and found Hunter's Quay to be even better for us. Easy to get to on the ferry into Dunoon from Gourock and lovely lodge (Rowan Comfort) with fabulous view of the water.

The pool area was great, nice and big. The only real shame of the weekend (bank holiday 24th-27th May) was that we arrived at around 7-15pm and were told the pool closed at 9pm but last admissions were at 8pm. Once we found the lodge, unpacked the car, the girls got changed and rushed back it was two minutes to 8 - and the pool was off already limits. It may have been 8pm by their clocks but not ours and you could argue that forever and I do appreciate rules are rules - but in any case it seems incredibly harsh on two excited 12 year old girls to prohibit their entry. It's not as if the pool was close to closing, there was another hour to go for swimming after 8pm! Not a great start or family friendly impression for us, within an hour of arriving for our weekend.

All that said, we made use of the pool on subsequent days and found the lodge, park and location to be excellent. The staff at Drimsynie had all appeared efficient rather than friendly last November - here, everyone seemed really friendly indeed - the girls on reception, the staff in the restaurant (brilliant breakfast by the way) - everyone smiled and everyone was more than pleasant. Even when the girl on reception drew us a map to a butchers when we had actually asked if she could recommend any BOAT TOURS!!! - all good fun :-)

We'll definitely be back.

Hi there, thanks for the feedback on your stay at Hunters Quay. Sorry to hear about your problems with not being able to get into the pool after 8pm, we close it at this time to allow for cleaning, but I understand your frustration about not being allowed in when there was still time left before the pool itself closed. We'll look into this. Overall, glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you back again soon!

My family and I had a fantastic time at Hunters Quay Holiday Village. We stayed in a 2 bed Premier Caravan which was simply stunning. The Leisure Facilities were great , especially for the children, and the Bar & Grill provided lovely and very reasonably priced food . Staff were friendly, polite and helpful at all times. I would definately recommend Hunters Quay and am looking forward to our return visit.

We stay are staying on a four day break from 20-24th May. Arrived around 4pm after travelling accros the ferry well worth it, but was unaware that we could have pre-ordered and received a discount., must have missed that when booking. Booked Hunters Quay as it is dog friendly. Booked a Rowan Comfort Lodge for my 10 year old and husband and myself. Was really pleased with the accommodation. Two good size bedrooms. Bathroom, fully equipped kitchen nothing was missing. Lounge area was very comfortable and had a dining area. Good sized veranda too. The lodge is perfect for our needs. The reception staff are very helpful and activities are very good too. The pools and spas are excellent. The bar and restaurant are superb, food was very nice and reasonable. The area is well situated and the views are outstanding. Lots to do and excellent area for going farther afield and exploring would recommend to anyone and will certainly be back. Only niggle are the pillows too soft will bring own next time. Well done.

Room Tip: We booked the rowan comfort lodge has every thing you need.

Hi there, thanks for taking time to provide feedback on your stay at Hunters Quay. Although we try our best to make guests aware of the discounted ferry tickets, sometimes this is missed when the break is booked through a third-party operator. Glad you enjoyed your visit and we do hope to see you again!
