“Great place, fantastic views, best holiday park in scotland, but please sort out staff and maintainence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

I have went to hunters quay holiday village for last 7 yrs,it impressed me so much we bought our own holiday home here 7yr ago.after 3 yr we had to sell our caravan because due to health reasons we could not travel.we have now bought again as we love the place, views and the cleanliness of the site, fantastic place with a new restaurant and reception.i would recommend the site to everyone but I must add, please please sort out the lack of staff in leisure centre (amusement arcade)and the bar at peak times.we were there on the 28th march to 2nd April and it was a shame about the que for a drink at the bar(1staff member serving)and the poor guy in the amusements getting stressed out with kids holding all their tickets to exchange prizes.please buy some cues for the snooker and pool and heat your swimming pool up(my 3 kids came out crying),also the Shute in the under 4s play area has got duck tape holding it together(needs re-covered)also some arcade machines have been out of order for as long as I can remember.but overall this holiday village is superb and hope they sort out the minor things that spoiled our week end this time round

Room Tip: We have stayed in the lodges before we bought a holiday home, and they are fantastic especially after...

Hi George, thanks for the comments. We are constantly striving to improve our parks and have taken all your feedback on board. New staff are coming on board at the moment, in order to minimise waiting for guests. The pool temperature had some problems for a few days last month due to a burst valve which is now fixed, and we have just had a load of new arcade machines installed (just before Easter) which should all be working fine. We will have a look at the comments regarding the pool cues and the broken chute, and endevour to get these problems rectified as soon as possible. Hopefully see you again soon, thanks!

Hi, stayed at Drynsinnie in Oct 2012, we had a blast! I won this weekend so opted for Dunoon, Hunters Quay. So 4 of us went and what a beautiful place, stunning views, and stayed on Gorse Croft lodges. Simply beautiful and very comfy. Took advantage of passes and used swimming pool, had a drink on the Sunday night, arrived at 8 but bar shut at 9 so bit disappointed :( All in all, excellent lodge and location. 18 of us have booked again for September and cannot wait :) Thank you from Bathgate Centre Reunion Group

Not all of my reviews save on here after typing them out - but I always try and say it as it is, rather than give personal opinions.

Stopped here in July 2012 for my youngest sons first birthday.
Hit a bit of a queue waiting for the ferry from McInroys Point, but by buying the tickets in advance, we saved quite a bit and seeing the ferries go back and forth added to the adventure/excitement.

Check in was easy enough and the directions to the lodge were good too.
The park is split into different areas, with the lodges being quite near the central part of the park.

The cot we ordered was in the room and although slightly dated, the Rowan Comfort lodge was spotless - with the two bedrooms being off the open plan lounge/diner and the shower room linking off this.

We used the park as a base to explore Dunoon, Kyles of Bute, Loch Fyne etc which take a lot longer to get to than it might look on a map. We also went back to the "mainland" and caught the train from Gourock, which is linked to the passenger ferry from Dunoon, rather than the car ferry from Hunters Quay.

Stocked up in the on-site store and Morrisons to add to the stuff we basics we brought with us. Found Morrisons cheaper, but the store had everything in which we needed.

Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat in the restaurant area, although the kids enjoyed the disco and met Rusty as well as going in the swimming pool - which is accessed via a tunnel running underneath the pool.
The Go-active team always seemed to be busy, with a full itinerary of activities for the kids - which is an additional cost.
There is also an area set aside for indoor arcade games, snooker etc

The park, which over looks Holy Loch is on a steep hill and all rubbish needs to be disposed of in the recycling points near the store - so a car can come in handy for what can be regular trips backwards and forwards...

Staff were helpful when an excited birthday boy was poorly, dropping off and sorting new bedding straight away after we contacted them.

A regular bus service links the park to Dunoon also.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback! We are currently upgrading many of our lodges at Hunters Quay, so chances are that the lodge you stayed in has now been upgraded to one of our newer versions. Glad the kids enjoyed the disco and meeting Rusty, the Go Active activities have proven very popular with our guests and would be well worth trying if you are coming on a return visit. Also glad that our staff could be of help when the birthday boy was poorly, hope he had a good birthday holiday nevertheless. Thanks again for your comments!

Just came back from a 3 night stay in the most beautifull brand new hit tub lodge! Accommodation was spotless and very well equipt. Hunters bar grill was fab food and service great! Pool nice too. Childrens area and soft play was basic but fun. Down side: it's in dunoon so not really much do do out the park at all, no nice beaches etc. good overall though for a short stay great

Room Tip: Go for a hot tub lodge lush

Hi Hazel, glad that you enjoyed your stay and thanks for your feedback! The Hunters Bar & Grill was just recently renovated so delighted that you enjoyed the food and service on offer. Although you may not have found many activities to do outwith the park, we have our regular 'Go Active' activities within the park, which were introduced last year and are constantly improving. Check our website and Facebook for the latest activities. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope to see you again in the not too distant future!

Just returned today from Hunters Quay holiday Park. had a fab time with my husband, 21 year old son and mum. The lady on the check in desk (Janice I think) was very curteous and helpful. We stayed in a recently refurbished Rowan Premier Lodge. It was lovely, couldn't believe how well equiped it was, everything from iron and ironing board to every kitchen untensil you could need. We had an ensuite double bedroom, ideal with 4 adults in the lodge. The decor was light and the lodge was spotless. Big improvement in standard of lodges since our last visit here, We preferred to hire a caravan last few times because they tended to be a bit more modern. We ate on Saturday night in the restuarant. very nice cheese burgers and chips, reasonably priced too! A couple of minor issues for us would be, the snooker table "over 18's only" is in the middle of the kids play area and the cues are a bit beyond repair, no tips on some and the snooker rest is broken completely. Also I was disappointed that only 1 jacuzzi was in use and that was closed all day yesterday and for some reason today the steam room was not open but this did not spoil a fantastic time.

It may have been a drive of some 430 miles but after arriving just as it was getting dark it looked good. Staying in a cabin and was not disappointed its very well set out with loads of space. 3 bedrooms(1 on suite) a very large living area and a very well equipped kitchen. The price for 3 nights the weekend before close down is rather expensive. There is an array of daily activities, indoor pool etc & the location is great(5mins from ferry). Go to Steve's Food & Wine on Shore Rd in Gourock to get your ferry tickets @ £16.20 Car & driver and £4.60 each person after that(that's return) which is cheaper than buying on the Ferry.

Just returned from a week at Hunters Quay. We stayed in a newly refurbished Rowan Premier Lodge. It was lovely, and had the added attraction of an outdoor hot tub. Although smaller than the other more expensive, new hot tub lodges, the standard of accommodation was excellent. The kitchen, although small was very well equiped and had a large fridge freezer. The lounge/dining area was large as were the double en suite bedroom and twin room. Large flat screen tv and dvd in the living room and large wall mounted tv in the double room. The lodge was spotlessly clean and the hot tub was serviced every morning. Refurbishment was not yet complete for a few of the neighbouring lodges. Ask for a lodge facing down the hill towards the loch, it is a lovely view. Some of the lodges faced up the hill and were only looking up towards the caravan area. The park was very well kept and security barriers prevent non residents getting access to anywhere other than the entertainment block/swimming pool area. The kids soft play area was excellent, our six year old daughter loved it. We ate twice in the restaurant and the meals were lovely on both occasions. The swimming pools were a fair size and not too busy. I would recommend this site to families and couples, you can make the holiday as quiet or action packed as you want.

Room Tip: Facing the loch
