“Awful meal, manager not interested”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Set in the quaint village of Brighstone, Isle of Wight (not Wales as address on here says). There is a lovely play area for kids and area to sit outside if you want, decor inside was nice & modern, bar area was lovely. We were really looking forward to eating here as we were staying locally and it was convenient, had the meal been good we would have returned.

We ordered beef bourguignon, beef stroganoff, chicken breast, bacon & cheese stack & another main course. The beef bourguignon, stroganoff etc looked bland and unappetising, it would have looked and tasted better with the addition of vegetables. The menu states that it is served with crusty bread, it comes with granary bread cut in a thick slice which is anything but crusty. The chicken was horrendously dry and the person eating it really struggled to eat it.

No staff came over to see how our meal was & didn't ask when clearing plates away. I complained to manager about poor meal but he wasn't interested & we didn't receive any discount etc

we didn't stay for dessert despite being hungry and felt it was very expensive for a poor quality meal, we would never return

“Good honest pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012 via mobile

Visited twice during our holiday in Brighstone.
The kids enjoyed the playground and their meals (which were great value at £5.75 including a drink and ice cream).
Of the main courses we tried, the fish and chips were great (nice crunchy batter, but not too crispy) and the chilli was nicely hot (would have been even better with some soured cream on the side). The beef bourgineoun (spelling?) was a bit disappointing (plenty of tender meat, but a bit watery and just not quite right!).
The beer was well-kept although it would be nice if they had some local brews as well (they have Abbot Ale, Doom Bar, Black Sheep plus a guest beer - none of them came from nearby).
Good friendly service - well recommended.

“Great Pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

We were advised by our Guest House owners to go to this pub for dinner. The food was really good, there was a decent selection of real ales and the inside of the pub was really nice. Excellent value for money.

BY THE WAY, THIS IS IN THE ISLE OF WIGHT, NOT WALES

“Very good meal on a weekend lunchtime”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

First time we have visited the Three Bishops since the change of ownership and didn't recognise it inside. Clear, modern and uncluttered seating area with plenty of natural light. Menu has all the usual pub favourites and there are specials too. Our food arrived quite promptly, was well cooked and portions were above average size. Side veges although once fresh were microwaved - not very well, or maybe were overcooked prior to being plated. Anyway, on the whole a good, tasty pub meal in very pleasant surroundings. Drinks a bit pricy. We will return!
