Owner description: Authentic retro attraction that will take you on a trip down memory lane. Beautifully recreated models of Godshill and Shanklin Old Villages as they were in the 1920's and 30's. Passionate about details, the models are true representations of the houses, cottages and pubs you can still see in the 'real world'. The gardens are packed with conifers and shrubs in the Japanese style of Niwaki, that will make you want to dash home and start gardening...Our customers tell us we inspire them or that they would like to take one of our gardeners home with them!

“A wonderful little find in a great little village.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Godshill has free parking! That's a huge bonus after having our pockets pinched most other places on the Island. Whilst we visited at the end of the season and so found a number of the eateries shut, the model village was still open.

And what a glorious place it is. A good size, with wonderfully kept gardens and detailed models with a sense of humour. The models are loved and looked after (Black Gang Chine take note) and it was a delight to explore them. Even our surly teen could not help but be enchanted by the place.

“Incredibly Detailed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Set in the heart of the Isle of Wight, Godshill village is a fantastic place to visit that is made even better with the model village, although the pavements can be a little narrow so do keep an eye on small children! There is a large car park situated at the far end of the village that is free of charge.

The model village itself though is a brilliant asset to Godshill. The idea behind this excursion is to recreate what different areas of the island looked like in the 1920s and 1930s. To be clear, these models are not lifesize but are usually on a scale of 1:1000, making it even more incredible that the owner of this site is capable to recreating the village in such detail.

The site recreates many areas, including Godshill Village and Shanklin village. There's a large, outdoor model railway complete with 3 working, automated trains that wind around hills, pass through tunnels and over bridges.

The owner has a clear sense of humour too - across the site you will find figurines depicting the actions of those from the era the village is set in and, if you look closely, some of these figurines are very funny to see! We won't spoil it for future visitors, but keep an eye out for a certain female figurine on the football pitch and many more in the hard-to-see areas!

Overall, a great visit lasting approximately 90 minutes! Highly recommended.

“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We have just obtained bus pass status, and whilst travelling on the top deck of a number 3 bus from Shanklin. Looked down on the model village. On our return journey we got of and visited this attraction. The detail of the models and figures is jaw dropping. Entire streets can be viewed in miniature, then later you can visit the actual street on the Island and compare. Its fantastic. We went on a particulary damp day. And I must admit we got quite "damp" Once you start walking around the village there is not a great deal of cover. So, if you visit on a damp day, take a brolly. A fantastic attraction, no matter what your age.

“Well worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

£13 for a family ticket, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The gardens are fantastic and the model village a delight. Models of so many places we recognised on our visit to the island. Loved the model village of the model village of the model village. Very well thought out and some amusing parts if you look closely enough. Godshill is a pretty little village with the model village being the jewel in the crown.
Will visit again.
