ABSOLUTELY AWFUL - DO NOT STAY HERE.We had the misfortune of staying at this hotel in July 2003 for a friends wedding. We checked in late at night, and admittedly, the floodlit exterior of the hotel looked quite impressive. The reception area seemed OK, and it was only when the receptionist told me that there was a "system problem" which meant that they "had to take payment upfront" that I started to become suspicious. Stupidly I complied with the request, but immedaiately regretted it, especially when I walked through the dingy bar on the way to the lifts, After climbing 8 flights of ramshakle stairs to our top floor room, we opened the door to a rancid smell. The room was FILTHY and had not been decorated in years. It was so bad that my wife started to cry. Given the lateness of our arrival, we had no option but to stay there, however we refused to use the stained sheets, opting to lie on some towels that we had brought with us. The bathroom was discusting: There was no shower, and the bathtub was full of ants. We passed up on the breakfast in the morning (opting for McDonalds instead) as the though of eating there was too grim to contemplate.
