“Extremely disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

I have been coming to this restaurant for many many years and it has always been my favourite place to go. This time, it was Mothering Sunday and we had booked a table for 8. We were only given the mothers day menu, no childrens menu even though we had a 2 and 8 year old with us.
We were seated in the back room, which I happen to dislike anyway, it looked as though they had squeezed a few more tables in and one of the benches normally against a wall was on display and quite unsightly. We were asked to sit down at a table that was not set, ( others were). They then had to set the table around us, which was difficult as they couldn't get round the table and had to continually stretch across. They didn't set it completely as they didn't have enough cutlery! When the starters came we still didn't all have cutlery. When the wine came, there was no offer to taste it, just to pour it into non existent glasses! and the water was served in half pint Yorkshire beer glasses.
The food itself was as lovely as ever, no faults at all. It was the service that was just a nightmare quite frankly throughout the meal the waitresses could not serve us properly and tried to pass hot and awkward plates across the table. We then had to clear away between courses. I can understand the owners wanting to serve as many people as possible, but not to the detriment of the clients. It was such a bad experience that I doubt I will go again.

“Our little escape”

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always delicious, tasty, and plentiful. Which reminds me, will have to book a table when the snow clears,.

“Birthday Celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Had a wonderful evening and superb meal with wonderful views from the restaurant. Food is always of the highest standard. It was mid-week and it was just a shame that there were only 6 of us in the restaurant. Perhaps a "secret" to be shared with others of a great place to dine.

“My favorite by miles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I love this place and have for 20+ years! The food is always consistanty great, the service friendly and professional and the price reasonable. You can always guarentee theres a wide spread choice of both sea food and meat dishes to choose. Writing this is making me want to book again soon!

“Very fine food at a very good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

The Olive Branch is situated just out of the small town of Marsden, Huddersfield. Well worth the drive.
The quaint surroundings offer comfort and warmth to the hungry visitors on the cold winter night.
Both the menu and the wine list are interesting and offer plenty of choice.
What is most interesting for some is the 'Early Bird' menu for diners arriving before 7.30 pm.
A limited but very good choice of 3 courses for a paltry £20.00 - which includes half a bottle of the house wine.
The food is of a very high standard - a stunning wild mushroom risotto preceded by a very nice chicken liver pate pleased us immensely.
The service is both efficient and pleasant. No sense of being rushed at all.
Good to have fine glassware and linen serviettes.
I would advise that your visit is booked in advance as this place is justifiably busy at the times you would expect.
