“Fantastic views and produce to match”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012

This handsome building of oak, Yorkshire stone and glass with panoramic views over the Pennines was completed last year to complement the family-run farm shop on the site. Butchers Simon Haigh and Andrew Whitwam have won national prizes for meat, pies and sausages and now they are trying their hand at catering, though to call this airy space a 'coffee shop' only hints at its scope. The menu ranges from full breakfast to light lunches, from snacks to sweet things. We called one lunchtime as the place was fillling with people of all ages. The routine is to bag a table, place the order and wait for it to be served by any one of a cheerful team. The all-day breakfast is a model of its kind: dry-cure bacon, fantastic black pudding, sausages of impeccable pedigree and farm-fresh eggs. The cooked meats are no less good and home-made soups are welcome up here at 1,000 ft where the wind blows keen. Coffee is top-notch and carefully brewed and, among the puddings, Yorkshire curd tart and florentines - made in the on-site bakery - are outstanding. A delightful addition to the eating scene in the Colne Valley.
