“birthday treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

the setting of Luton Hoo is magnificent -the house is the former home of Sir Harold & Lady Zia Wernher, and the Queen used to spend her wedding anniversary there. The tea in such a magnificent setting was a delight

“A real treat in an elegant setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

This is the place to go if you want to dress up and treat someone to an afternoon of elegant indulgence. We used to take my MIL here on special ocassions and she just loved it, a little moment of sheer luxury that lives in the memory.

The tea was excellent with ample sandwiches and delicious cakes, in fact more than we could eat. Although it's not cheap as a special ocassion it's great value really. You can take your time and really relax. I think it's the sort of place you should only go to very ocassionally as otherwise it loses its special appeal.

“Magnificent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Have been many times since first opened and always enjoy this indulgence. Have to say though I have thought on the last couple of times that the place and service is starting to get a little tiered and is need of a bit of a make over. Still a brilliant place to Granny or Mothers on special family occasions and you are never rushed although at times is does get rather busy. Leave some time to look around the grounds and gardens. Afternoon tea costs around £38 per person and if you throw in the fact that you get,as others have said the full Dowton Abbey experience and get to spend time in this magnificent building as well as looking around the grounds to me its always been money well spent

“A Downton experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

A place to go for that special unhurried treat. Staff were very attentive but discreet and the place certainly had the ambience of grandeur. We have had an afternoon tea here and celebrated our 25th anniversary with about 20 guest too. The staff were more than helpful for a larger group and gave us the library area to ourselves.
