I booked a relatively expensive hotel looking for a good quality treat for my elderly Mum overnight. I am used to hotels for business and for occasional treats and thought this looked promising. To ensure that there was disabled facilities and that it would be suitable, I rang ahead and paid above the internet price after some negotiation to get it near what was apparently on offer. On arrival, there were not sufficient disabled parking places and no welcome, no information on say where to get breakfast, the pool, how the lift worked - the basics. We got no help with bags (which you need when dealing with a wobbly relative, two bags and two lift doors that have to be propped open at the same time), Mum was completely ignored throughout. The next morning at breakfast was frosty. We were ignored on arrival and eventually sat at a table. The waiter told my 89 year old mother to move, at which point I intervened and suggested he could perhaps allow her to have her breakfast there since the restaurant was half empty and no obvious need to disturb her. I mentioned with some sadness as we checked out that a little warmth would have helped and was melt with a clear outline on how they follow procedure. Not a place to revisit. Ever.
