The reason we rested at the Camelot House B&B for 2 nights was to visit the West Somerset Railway. Camelot House was recommended to my wife by a work colleague as a good place to locate ourselves for our stay. Our expectations we not only met but exceeded by the warmth of the welcome that Wendy and Ashley give you. I stay in a lot of hotels in my working career and prefer to stay in and support local people providing wonderful hospitality and service. This is right up there as one of the best B&B we have stayed in over the years.
Wendy and Ashley ensure your stay is a wonderful experience, with, as they say we provide “Bed & Breakfast” and what a bed and what a breakfast. We stayed in room 2 which overlooked the wonderfully tendered and interesting well stocked garden which then backs on to open fields. Our room was very tastefully decorated and can be seen on the Camelot House website and nothing is left for you to want in your room, Tea & Coffee making facilities, and wonderful toiletries and luxury towels. The shower is fantastic and has great pressure which is very satisfying after a long day out. The best though is the bed we had 2 wonderful nights’ sleep and as we all know sleeping in a different bed to your own can be challenging. Not at all at the Camelot, the “BED” is fantastic and we both woke suitably refreshed to be presented with our own challenge of the Camelot “BREAKFAST” by Chef Ashley. All you can expect with cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt which is just a prequel to the cooked breakfast which is as good as I have tasted anywhere all topped off with lashings of toast and local Miles tea or freshly brewed coffee. Breakfast is served between 0815 and 0900 which is good because everyone takes breakfast in the dining room and there is a super atmosphere and lots of conversation going.
Breakfast is concluded by Wendy giving a local weather forecast to the assembled guests for the area from her iPad which is useful apart from the debate amongst the guests and Wendy which direction the wind was coming from that day i.e. where was north west or south west. I think Carol Kirkwood is safe at the BBC.
We met a couple who were on their 3rd visit to Camelot and told us Wendy and Ashley always pride themselves on providing as good a service as they can possibly give. There were certainly no complaints from my wife and I whatsoever on the contrary nothing was too much trouble
We left after 2 nights stay feeling very refreshed and feeling we have not only found another gem of a B&B but also we would like to feel met some wonderful friendly and professional people in Wendy and Ashley. There is no doubt my wife and I will be back to enjoy the hospitality of Camelot House again.
Oh, by the way the West Somerset Steam Railway is an absolute must of a visit and a wonderful day out and Blue Anchor Station is just 300M form the Camelot B&B. If you are more into walking I am assured this is a good location for exploring the area.
