“extremely friendly hosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2011

we only stayed one night as my partner was starting the south west coast path walk but the hosts could not have been more helpful. the room was small but very clean and the breakfast was fabulous! they even made a packed lunch for my parter as he was setting off early....would certainly recommend and also revisit if we are in the area again.

With no previous knowledge of this place we were delighted to enjoy 5 days accommodation here. Everything was excellant, we could fault nothing. 20 out of 10 brownie points - a teapot & teabag container, 2 comfortable chairs, sweets, not had any of these before even in larger establishments. Will definitely be going again.

My mother and I really enjoyed our stay here. Generous size rooms, lovely and clean. very nice welcoming hosts. Little touches such as little packets of biscuits on the hospitality trays along with a good selection of not only tea & coffee but also hot chocolate and horlicks. And good quality toiletries in bathrooms go a long way to make your stay here even more of a treat. Another reason i love this house is that no childen under 14 are allowed. The only drawback i want to point out is that, we found the TV's were installed a little too high on the wall.

When we arrived at Kenella house, greeted at the door by Steve, who showed us up to a beautiful room, in keeping with the age and style of the victorian house. Sandy explained times of breakfast, evening meals if required, and offered pack lunches also. Informed us of the eating places throughout Minehead. Superb full english breakfast, as well as a choice of cereals, fresh fruit etc, plenty of tea and toast given. Friendly hosts, nothing too much trouble, would definately return and happily recomend to friends and family.

Everything you need for a quality stay is right here. Spotless and authentic Victorian rooms with excellent hot, high quality breakfasts and nothing too much trouble for the hosts. Would highly recommend.
For a nice day out walk into Dunster beach/centre - but follow the beach and not the signposted walk along side the tourist office because the latter takes you along the busy A39.
Another place worth a visit is Lynmouth. You can take the number 300 bus.

We liked our stay here, we rated everything excellent. The endresult is a 'very good' because of all the frills in the room. It was all lovely and clean, but there was too much furniture in the room for our taste. The owners were very friendly and breakfast was good.

This is the third year myself and my parents have stopped at Kenella House and it must be good for my Father to return year after year after year (as we are going again next year). Steve and Sandy welcome us like friends but this happened also on our first visit. They can not do enough to help you. Even if you are early and your rooms are not ready they let you check and then take your cases to your room later, so when you return all you need to do is un-pack and enjoy yourself. The ambience is so relaxing and friendly. I love historical things and staying at Kenella House is a dream for me. So far I have stayed in 3 of the 6 bedrooms; my parents always have the ground floor which is ideal for them. I just need to stop in the other 2 but you can’t really choose between them they are all wonderful, comfortable, clean, pleasant and everything you need from a Bed and Breakfast. I know it might sound corny but it is just like a home from home. The rooms provide everything you need, tea and coffee making facilities (with biscuits), toiletries in the bathroom, fresh towels, clean linen and even a teddy to keep you company – if like me you are on your own. There is nothing Steve and Sandy wouldn’t do to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They even accommodate me for breakfast by giving me beans with the cooked breakfast. They are so friendly and it is not false, they seem really interested in what you are doing, have done etc. I would fully recommend Kenella House to anyone, Minehead is a good base for touring and has something for everyone from historic buses to steam trains but whatever you do during the day it is nice to come back to Kenella House for a good rest before starting another day sightseeing.
