“Outstanding!”

Mike and Hazel
We had a really relaxing stay for just two nights. The food was excellent and the service anticipated our every need. The room was comfy and well-appointed. Everything was spot on.
Our hosts were able to provide any amount of useful local information through the books and guides they made available and, more effectively, through their own local knowledge.
We were delighted with our stay

We stayed overnight whilst attending an event at the nearby West Somerset Railway and will return for a longer visit.
Sarah and Bryan are the perfect hosts - very welcoming and chatty without being too "in your face". We styed in the ground floor Selworthy suite which was spacious and spotlessly clean. There is a very good selection of toiletries and beverages and nice touches like sweets and chocolates and fresh milk in a flask which was fantastic. The shower room was great and had a proper sized shower cubicle. There is no bath but that suited us well and as mentioned in other reviews, the towels are soft and the bath sheets are bath sheet size rather than the flannels that some hotels market as towels. One word of caution - the saniflow loo is very noisy!
My sister and brother in law stayed in the Luccombe Suite and were very happy with the huge 6ft bed but felt the shower and bathroom should have been bigger. Their loo was fine!
Breakfast was great with the usual selection of cereals and fruit, yoghurts and porridge available on request. The cooked breakfast was large and piping hot. I opted for salmon and scrambled egg which was fine and there was plenty of tea and toast.
Evening meals are available with prior booking but we opted to eat at a great local restaurant but will maybe try the tempting menu next time. There was a good selection of books, DVDs and board games and the guest lounge is small and cosy. Free WIFI was a bonus and there is also a notebook computer for guest's use which is another thoughtful touch.
We intend to return in the spring and would recommend a visit to anyone looking for a comfortable, reasonably priced base close to town (5 minutes walk) and with free parking.

Room Tip: Check on the size of the bathroom/shower stall if you are larger than average.

My dad and I stayed at The Parks Guest House for one week (26’th Sept to 3’th Oct). Our aim was to explore the Exmoor by walking different routes every day and The Parks Guest House offered us the right accommodation to do that! With their generous hospitality, Bryan and Sarah made us feel very welcome and at home. We stayed at the Dunkery room, equipped with comfortable beds, idem bathroom, tv, WiFi, sweets and the possibility to make yourself tea and coffee whenever you would like to (with a refill every day). Many DVDs and books were freely available in case we needed them. Bryan and Sarah served delicious breakfasts with a wide range of choices and variability’s, whether you are a ‘big’ or a ‘non-big’ eater ;-), nothing was too much trouble for them. Moreover, mornings were great fun, with humoristic entertainment of the guest host!
The location of The Park Guest House is very good, within a 10 minutes’ walk you will find many different restaurants and in 15 minutes you reach the sea and the West Somerset Railway. Gorgeous walking routes within Exmoor National Park are easily reached by car within max 45 minutes.
Heading back home (the Netherlands), we enjoyed a delicious lunch package from our hosts that ensured us a well-served ride.
When we booked at bookings.com Bryan and Sarah’s Guest house was graded a 9.2, but we think you deserve a 10 plus at least! So, we absolutely recommend this guest house to everyone!
To Bryan and Sarah: it was a real pleasure meeting you! Many thanks again for your warm welcome, care, service and humor! You made our stay marvelous and memorable!!
Best wishes, Charlene and Jan Diepenbroek

I can't recommend The Parks highly enough as a base to explore this part of the West Country.

My girlfriend and I spent three nights at the guesthouse. We took a long weekend out of the city and headed south to Somerset to explore the coast and Exmoor. We found The Parks easily and parked out back before being welcomed and shown to our room, the Luccombe Suite.

This was tremendously comfy and clean, with a huge kingsize bed. The place is pleasant and relaxing with a nice homely vibe and plenty of quiet spaces to relax and kick back with a book. This was of paramount importance to us during our stay. The breakfast was fantastic - really filling and tasty and there was always a convivial atmosphere in the dining room; this atmosphere was generated by Bryan and Sarah, the proprietors of The Parks. They were most welcoming and couldn't do enough for us.

There's a huge amount to see and do in the local area, which was truly beautiful. We were lucky with the late summer/early autumn weather which made exploring the area even better. Now that we've found The Parks and got to know this part of the world, we'll be back and will not hesitate to recommend it to friends. Thanks Minehead, Bryan and Sarah!

Room Tip: Luccombe Suite was great - very comfortable and despite being at the front of the property there was...

Me and my partner Dave booked into this guest house from sat 21'st sept to Saturday 28'th September. The owners Brian and Sarah were excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was gorgeous you also had a choice of starters cereals, grapefruit segments etc..The room we stopped in was fantastic we had everything we needed and if we wanted anything nothing was too much trouble. The room was immaculate had a big double bed, a shower room and all the facilities you needed.Would definitely recommend the parks guest house to everyone I know. Will definitely be going back to the guest house in the future. Thanks again to Brian and Sarah for their excellent service and laughs that we had with them.

My husband and I had a terrific mini-break in North Somerset, based at The Parks in Minehead. We dropped off the kids and arrived on Friday night to a warm welcome from Sarah. We stayed in the Woodcombe Room which was traditionally furnished with a huge bed with views to the front overlooking the town. The room was extremely comfortable and very clean, with an ensuite and everything we needed for our short break away.

We dined out that night in an excellent Italian restaurant, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. The next morning we had our first taste of the ‘Exmoor Breakfast’ – a superb way to start the day, well cooked, delicious and very, very filling. In fact, it set us up so well that we didn’t need to eat again until we took a cream tea in nearby Porlock on Saturday afternoon!

The location of The Parks is excellent – there’s a lot to see and do within a short drive from Minehead, in addition to the attractions of this charming Victorian town. Exmoor is minutes away by car and the views from the top of Porlock Hill over the ocean, back into Somerset and west over the border to Devon are just stunning. We ventured as far as Coombe Martin, stopping off in Lynmouth and climbing up to Lynton in the amazing water-powered funicular.

It was a tremendously relaxing break, made even better by some pleasant late-summer weather. Bryan and Sarah were brilliant hosts and couldn’t do enough for us, despite their establishment being full.

We’re already looking forward to our return visit!

Thank you for such a lovely relaxing stay! We spent four nights here and wished we stayed a bit longer! Our girls really loved staying here too and loved the board games and the great choice of DVDs, it was like home from home! The room was lovely and clean, with plenty of hot water and the towels were lovely and soft! There was a great choice of drinks in the room and the sweets was a great idea! Bryan and Sarah made us feel most welcome! The breakfast was very tasty and there was a lot of choice!
