“WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2012

are you looking for a budget hotel that gives excellent value? then look no further than the Terrace Hotel. It is well positioned for all amenities that beautiful Scarborough has to offer..I have stayed many times and never been disappointed in the warm welcome given to me by Chris and Sylvia the proprietors .The bedrooms are clean, and comfortable and after a good nights sleep go down to the breakfast room and enjoy a hearty full English breakfast served by the jovial Chris and Sylvia.I am looking forward to my next visit in the not to distant future.

Room Tip: The back rooms are quieter.

This was my second stay at The Terrace, and it was just as nice as the last time in September 2010. I can only repeat what I said last year, The Terrace is warm clean and the full English breakfast served in the cosy dining room is more than adequate. Chris and Sylvia are always very helpfull with advice on places to visit. The rail station and the bus stops to all the various places of interest are just across the road. There are good views of the town from the castle, with interesting displays about the history of the castle site and some artefacts discovered there. There is a great view of the townfrom Oliver's Mount, with a cafe/restaurant, where you can get tea or coffee and a nice meal, the prices are quite reasonable. There are regular buses to Whitby, with its abbey and church on the headland with wonderfull views of the harbour and town (worth walking the 199 steps to the top). There are also regular buses to Pickering and Helsmley, again very nice towns to visit, with castles to explore. As my main interests and hobbies are photography and history, I never get tired of going to these places. Although I am single, there are plenty of things for families with children to keep them occupied without getting bored..

I stayed at the Terrace Hotel before in 2009 and now came back with my partner. Chris and Sylvia are as friendly, helpful and entertaining as you could wish! Breakfast is rich, lovely and tasty! - Train Station 2 mins away, reasonable short walking distance to town, beach, castle,.....
On my/our next trip to Scarbourough the "Terrace" will certainy be my/our first choice!
Thanks to Chris & Sylvia!!

Just stayed at the terrace for four nights with our two daughters. The hotel is in the ideal location for enjoying the town centre and sea front. Chris & Sylvia made us feel very welcome and our 2 daughters thought Chris was brilliant. The rooms are spotlessly clean but a little worn. The breakfast was very tasty in the morning and set us up for the day. If you want 5 star luxury then it's not for you. If however you want a clean friendly place to sleep that is excellent value for money then please book with confidence.

I decided to go to Scarbrough for the weekend and Chris was so polite and friendly, carried my bags up the stairs (which he didnt need to bless! ) and loved the room I was given, spotless and opposite the bathroom that was very handy. Got directions to the beach and spent the day having fun, returned and met Sylvia and started chatting to her who was more than polite to listen. The breakfast in the morning was brilliant couldnt manage anymore was certaintly full for half the day. Considering the price I enjoyed my weekend here and recommend it to anyone- lovely people hot and cold water, lovely food, towels provided, cleanliness whatmore could you ask for? Thank you very much you two Emma xx

Just returned from The Terrace Hotel it was my first visit, the owner Chris & his wife made me really welcome from the moment I walked in to the hotel, super clean place with really comfortable rooms, and fantastic cooked breakfasts. The hotel is in a really handy location near to the rail station also really easy to park right outside the place,a five minute walk to the heart of the town, the seafront a little further on.Plenty of good value places to eat nearby spoilt for choice really.I will be going back again in the future, for a quality B&B at a fantastic value for money price you can't go wrong, give it a try for what you pay you The Terrace is hard to beat.
